Great video! After having owned many boats thru the years, which required me to slither around like a snake into various confined spaces to work on whatever was broken, I finally got tired enough to not want to do it anymore. As a result, about 80% of the reason I bought my present boat, is because absolutely everything on it, is easily accessible to maintain, repair or replace. Of course, I'm older than you two, so my reduced abilities are a factor these days, just as much or more than my attitude about such things. Looking forward to your next installment!👍

That’s why the call these trips”Adventures” Good thing you know how to deal with issues like these-for some it could be the end of an “Adventure” and a visit to the boat yard(Bank).I’m also impressed by the total lack of cursing-LOL-I’d be lighting up the F-bombs for sure.

Regarding your engine temps, I have a mercruiser 496 mag with the same setup as your engines. I know you had some raw water pump issues and used some aftermarket wear plates. I did the same thing but ultimately changed my pump to a solid stainless steel pump from Hardin Marine. It’s a better built pump, it’s serviceable and about $500 cheaper than OEM.

My water pressure looks good. I was going to check engine alignment. Been a while and I notice that motor is harder to spin properly by hand than port.

Great video to start my Sunday. Relaxing with a little bit of "action". I'm curious.. can I ask what the fuel burn is for that one engine running on its own vs both? Wondering how much harder that engine is working. Love to see her up to speed too! Will be interesting to see the difference after the next prop maintenance and re-pitch in the future. 😎
@AdventuresofHappyOurs

Depends on speed but about 4 GPH at 2000rpm/ 7mph

@@AdventuresofHappyOurs vs running both engines? (actually.. I think I remember you going over this in one of your past videos.. I'll look for it).
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 7 ай бұрын
That’s with running one motor. Running both is double the fuel usage but only 2-3 miles per hour faster.
@SingleSpeed427
@SingleSpeed427 7 ай бұрын
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Ahh.. ok. I was thinking that you were doing the same speeds and wondered if it was like 4gph+4gph (two engines) and then 6gph on one engine at the same speed. If you ever do that test, I'd be curious. 😎

And also.. Thanks for the replies! I really enjoy your channel. One of these days, I'm going to ask your thoughts between your two boats. I recently sold my Rinker 270EX (260EC) which is similar to your Regal. I am trying to decide between a Meridian 341/391 or a Sea Ray 370 Venture. I can't help but think the 370 might be a better fit for me as a "single" boat. (Great Lakes, mostly day boating and some weekends).

do you ever feel that as great as boating is, the stress of having 100+ systems to worry about and maintain, and having 1-3 breaking down at any one time is just not worth the anxiety?
@AdventuresofHappyOurs

Yes. It’s a sigh of relief not having a boat. I did more worldly things like camping, hiking, hunting, vacations, visiting family. lol But for some reason the water keeps calling me.

What a cliff hanger!! That cooling line leak is crazy, what a poor design and implementation. That you has O rings on board is impressive, but then you also had a spare fitting for the vacuflush?? Seems that that hose needs some support, always something to do!
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 7 ай бұрын
I knew that vacuum flush fitting was stripped and was a temp fix from a while ago, so I had the part aboard. Having spares makes it less stressful.

Such an odd design for that water fitting. Wonder if you can have a 3D printed aluminum or other plastic or maybe carbon fiber fitting made. Good patch. Good luck and Happy Fathers Day to you as well.

I’ve heard of makeshift fixes using 3m 4200 and a barbed fitting. I picked some up at a hardware store and will try it if it leaks again.

Enjoying your adventure from the relative security of my house in North Port! I think you have Mercruiser engines? Maybe you could find a Mercury dealer ahead of your next stop on your trip and order a replacement part if needed and Uber from a docking point. Frustrating, I know from experience. At least you know how to diagnose and repair different issues which is worth $200 an hour... Sending a virtual "Docking Beer" from afar... Incidentally, does your BoatUS/SeaTow membership cover you while on your excursion?
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 7 ай бұрын
I considered ordering and having shipped but the part was less than a year old and failed. So I’m going a different route. The new generation uses barbed fittings and there is a way to retrofit it. Future video.

Is that corrosion due to you being in salt water - or would that build up even happen in freshwater?
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs 7 ай бұрын
Salt wreaks havoc. It accumulates in places and breaks plastic parts.

Do you have a part number for that cool fuel fitting inlet piece? I've never had an issue with mine, but I'd like to carry a spare seeing how much it acts up on you. Hang in there, bumpy roads lead to beautiful places.

That’s the spec for these motors. 180 degree thermostat. Alarms at 186. You want to catch it before it causes issues with other systems. Melted exhaust hoses, burnt impellers, etc.
