I fixed a friends with same issue and it was his deceased grandfathers motor. It turned out to be a major fix like in your video having to pull power head etc. I wish I had saved the pictures but I ended up making a small copper ring that slides over the water tube on the top right under the power head I then used silver solder and soldered that ring to the copper tube right below where the rubber grommet goes. That will prevent the water tube from ever being able to be pulled out when changing an impeller. Both he and his father were so happy the way I had fixed it and I also went through and tuned it up etc while I repaired it.

I have had that happen two times now the water tube stays in the lower unit I just stick it back up in the hole it goes the same way great videos and info T-Mike 👍🏻

I don`t work on them very often but I fear the bolts and screws every time.

Hey T-Mike, on these 9.5 hp turtle shell motors have you had to replace the motor mounts on them? Seems like a real pain to do versus working on a 9.9 hp of the same vintage.
