There is a lot more to middle-class home ownership than just owning a home. A home owner takes joy in maintaining their home. To do this, they need and want to do repairs and home maintenance like cutting the grass, trimming hedges, etc. Many young people today can't or are not interested in doing those things. Their interests lie elsewhere.

The media certainly doesn’t mention it. Anyone could choose to live in middle America, hours away from any major city, and probably find something reasonably priced.

Why limit yourself to choosing to move to merely a different state (should that option be viable)? Why not a different country entirely? Vote with your feet. Go to where you might have a better chance of being treated more favorably.

i have a fixed rate va loan under 4% and i have a veteran homestead tax exemption. With that, my mortgage went up OVER $400 A MONTH!!! this is not sustainable!!!

You can not live in the major citys in Florida you can afford a house a hour a way from a major city or you can fix up a run down house there's a lot of ideas to get in to a home you got to look around for a good deal
