Commercial fishing is dead , my lifelong profession after Coast Guard service . Grew up without air conditioning , try that today . Live in the most dangerous state in the nation to walk , ride a bike or take mass transit . Fla Bay , the"river of grass " and live oak hallows are destroyed ...

Troopers only making a base pay of 50k? They are not making squat. Who is going to work for that kind of money with all of the risks involved with the job. Florida needs a high earner income tax to get the salaries up for not only the Troopers but for the Teachers as well. You can have a 1% income tax on earners that make over 400k per year. That would be painless to them but would not drive these high earners out of state. It would give the teachers and Cops a living wage to stay on the job. I know that will never happen.
