My favorite lesson from this video is people are kind! I started crying when I saw that 3:00 pacer just cheering you... they can probably run faster, but they are running for other people! Also you, Floris, dedicating this to your family... after health, family is the most important thing in the world.

@@FlorisGierman I didn't! But I'll be lying if I said it was easy at the end there. Especially with the wind and the warm temps. I really had some doubts around 22 and especially at 24 but I was able to battle through and finish with a 7 min PR. I'll take it.....onto the next!

Congrats with the race ! And thanks for all the valuable info about Zone 2 training and especially for the link to Zones calculator where you put your age, resting and max. HR. Before October 12th, 2023, I was depressed as hell, unfit and skinny fat, burned out at my job with relationships that were cracking. Now I’m less depressed, in my best form, sharing a new hobby with my girlfriend. My easy runs are in 9min/mile instead of 13m/m, I can run sub 2 half, and average 30miles per week training for my first marathon.

Hey Floris, congratulations on your fifth major marathon what a journey and thanks for sharing these moments! I am entering first major the Boston for the first time in one month! Question how many gels did you carry with you? I am using them too and my body absorbs them smoothly…last time i had 6 on my last marathon.
@FlorisGierman
@FlorisGierman 6 ай бұрын
It's always a tricky balance between having enough fuel and avoiding an upset stomach. I took a lot of gels and I've practiced with them. I had them at 15 minutes prior, then at 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 minutes, so 9 in total x 30 grams of carbs per gel. Everyone is different here but many people under fuel. Training runs and journaling can help here.

Well done Floris! Never any doubt you would run under 3 hours as you have the pedigree and background to achieve that. The extra miles you ran was probably from the wrong GPS. Wait till you get to London, guaranteed and extra km to show on your watch! How does one get access to interview Eliud?
@FlorisGierman

🙏 The GPS actually felt correct, I also wore a footpod for additional accuracy. There was just a lot of zigzagging around the course to limit running into groups of people. Kipchoge interview still needs to be edited, wanted this video out first. Should be done in 7-10 days.

Hello guys i need your help with my running and I don't know where to post this other than here . I was running for quite some time mostly to train for badminton ( I play in competition) and I recently discovered zone 2 training . i record my run with a h10 heart tracker and the polar beats app . And when i use all the calculator i get between 134/136 to 150/152 ( i have rest heart rate of 52 and 190 max heart rate record in one session of badminton on my polar beats) . or the MAF method i get 152 ( i am 28) and i am pretty fit so maybe i can add 5 ? ( i do physical activities 6 day a week i love it ) . The problem i have is on my polar beat the zone 2 is 115-134 and zone 3 is 134-154 . And i'ts starting to mess with my mental a little bit . I run most day 30min in the morning to dodge traffic . So should i not pay attention of the zone of my polar beat and run zone 3 134-154 or should i run mutch slower and run the 115-134 . Does anyone as the same issue ? Thx for your help in advance !

The cow hanging in there solid 5 miles, do we know how they finished? 😂

Haha, I was wondering too if the cow started out hot and died when he hit the wall, or finished strong. Style points for his outfit, but that must have been hot!!

So happy for you brother, proud that you dug deep and finished strong - sub 3!!! You balance so much, and give your all to the running community, I am happy the marathon gods smiled fondly on you at Tokyo ... 6:00 "I'm not going to lie, it's getting tougher" ... we can see you dig deep. And the Tokyo marathon, dude - this looks amazing and I can't wait to run it. Next London, for #6 ... Flospeed

Great race recap Floris. Congrats on your 5th star. It was brilliant meeting you on the Shakeout run in Tokyo. Awaiting Kipchoge’s interview now. Happy to see you finish sub 3. Always a good reminder to increase mileage. I was too hovering around 24mpw pre Tokyo. Hope to be better prepared for my next one😊

Great video. Love the slow-motion editing. I really love the costumes that the spectators were wearing. Secondly, I like that even during this race, you are always looking to coach through the videos. Dedication. Only 1 major left, then time to come to the dark side. 😂🎉
