My favorite lesson from this video is people are kind! I started crying when I saw that 3:00 pacer just cheering you... they can probably run faster, but they are running for other people! Also you, Floris, dedicating this to your family... after health, family is the most important thing in the world.

Congrats with the race ! And thanks for all the valuable info about Zone 2 training and especially for the link to Zones calculator where you put your age, resting and max. HR. Before October 12th, 2023, I was depressed as hell, unfit and skinny fat, burned out at my job with relationships that were cracking. Now I’m less depressed, in my best form, sharing a new hobby with my girlfriend. My easy runs are in 9min/mile instead of 13m/m, I can run sub 2 half, and average 30miles per week training for my first marathon.

Well done on a great marathon! You worked out where you were in terms of fitness and just stayed with that. I was impressed how relaxed you looked. Loved seeing the supporters and what lovely pacers! I have a marathon coming up and the training is not going as planned because of managing an injury so my takeaway for the day will be, run the race I am able to do rather than the one I had hoped for. Hey Floris, congratulations on your fifth major marathon what a journey and thanks for sharing these moments! I am entering first major the Boston for the first time in one month! Question how many gels did you carry with you? I am using them too and my body absorbs them smoothly…last time i had 6 on my last marathon.
@FlorisGierman8 ай бұрын
It's always a tricky balance between having enough fuel and avoiding an upset stomach. I took a lot of gels and I've practiced with them. I had them at 15 minutes prior, then at 20 / 40 / 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 minutes, so 9 in total x 30 grams of carbs per gel. Everyone is different here but many people under fuel. Training runs and journaling can help here.

Well done Floris! Never any doubt you would run under 3 hours as you have the pedigree and background to achieve that. The extra miles you ran was probably from the wrong GPS. Wait till you get to London, guaranteed and extra km to show on your watch! How does one get access to interview Eliud?

🙏 The GPS actually felt correct, I also wore a footpod for additional accuracy. There was just a lot of zigzagging around the course to limit running into groups of people. Kipchoge interview still needs to be edited, wanted this video out first. Should be done in 7-10 days.
