I have repurposed a smaller, durable cardboard box with a magnetic closing lid that I received as part of a weight loss program to carry my needle holder, scissors, threader, etc. It's small enough to sit nicely on my side table and when my hands are full/busy the lid is easy to lift up and let fall shut. It makes me very happy.😊😊

You always have the best ideas to share and I appreciate it. Even through the difficult time of losing your father, you have given us great advice on how to be a good friend. About 45 years ago I bought a steamer trunk at an antique shop with drawers on one side and hangers on the other. I used it for a while as my dresser. Now I use it for craft storage, Mainly for notions, patterns and some projects. It makes me happy to have owned it all these years.

I love your flosstube. I am sorry for your loss. How fortunate and special you were able to spend time with your Dad (and Mom and brother) before his passing. Thank you for sharing how others can help and to know that it is okay to ask for help. I have two things I have repurposed to help with finishing. Any empty, nice looking cup/cylinder works for orts or holding your bottle of glue like Vonna does. I put foil in the bottom of a wooden cylinder and it keeps my upside down glue ready to grab. I use my yardstick with a paper clip to top, inserted in drawer grips, to hold my floss while I twist to make cording.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad 14yrs ago and even though the pain has let up, I think and miss him still everyday. You live on and feel them with you each day. I’m happy to share with you that I repurpose pen/pencil cases for my stitching notions. I especially like the tray kind so my scissors can lay flat and my tube shaped needle holders fit as well. Sometimes I buy them just because I know they work and there are pretty colors and designs. I love school supplies anyways. Thanks for your great flosstubes. My heart goes out to you re the passing of your Dad…I lost mine 10 years ago, and I’m still not “over” losing him… but now I can smile without crying…most of the time. It’s my Mom that my brother and I try to stay as connected to her - they had a great 50 year run, and her missing him is heartbreaking to me & my brother… I guess I’m saying the loss of a good Dad is ROUGH….keep close to those who loved him too - it’s the best thing that helps…. my storage is where I repurpose items the most for - I have a tackle box for my DMC’s, I have 12x12 scrapbook plastic boxes for my fabric (that comes in a tower of 6 boxes)- this is really handy!! Thank you for your shop update too - I’m REALLY taking some copious notes on what our lovely designers and giving us sneak peaks too… I was SURE I didn’t need any more charts….until I saw the GORGEOUSNESS OF Kathy Barrick and Liz Matthews and others - suddenly I NEED MANY!!👏👏🥴🤷🏼‍♀️💖. Take care of yourself, be good to yourself as much as you can..💖

The father and daughter bond is very strong. I had that bond with my dad but unfortunately he passed away in 1994. I still miss him everyday as he was my hero and role model. You were lucky to have had your dad for a long time. But I'm sure you felt that the time still wasn't long enough. Your finishes are so beautiful. Your HOD FFO makes me want to do those as well. Of course, I have several WIPs and tons of "to start" pieces in queue. Will get to it one of these days. Meantime, I'm enjoying the Cross Stitch Camp. Thanks for coming up with the event. Welcome back and what a great video. I have repurposed a vintage tin picnic basket to hold all of the blocks and supplies for a wool quilt BOM that I purchased. It made me HAPPY to see all of your new pins and I do have a vintage salt that I can make into a pincushion. When you showed that green bench with the tomato smalls I thought one of those cute little tomatoes would be so cute to finish that off. I have been buying nice frames at Goodwills this summer and recently had to buy a tote to store them in. Whenever I see one that I might use, I just have to have it if the price is right and have gotten most of them for only $2 each. Have also found some lovely metal hoops at great prices. You are so blessed to have had such a wonderful relationship with your Dad. What great memories you made!! Happy Stitching.

I just wanted to tell you how happy it makes me to see your videos. You are just so inspiring. I use many of my antiques for storage like my great grandfathers hat box that stores much of my project fabric, my wonderful grandma’s button tin that I keep buttons in too, but I especially like using as much of my old furniture for project, floss and fabric storage. My favorite is an old victrola that I store patterns in where the record storage was. The list goes on. 😉 I would also like to send my condolences to you. Don’t be hard on yourself for feeling scattered. I lost my 43 yo son last summer in May and 10 days later my 94 yo mother died. I was devastated. The summer of 2021 will be forever etched in my mind but good news is, it gets better. I still have “ days” but less often and I remember so many happy times with them both that it’s hard to stay sad. You will get better, Sheri, it just takes time. Thank you again for the lovely bag! I received it earlier this week! I have had the privilege as a nurse to care for elderly patients some of my best memories are listening to their stories. So I know what you mean when you’ve questioned why didn’t we talk about that, or why didn’t I ask more questions. I lost my dad at a time when I was wanting to ask more questions. I also love repurposing anything and everything! Old buttons with salt and pepper shakers to make button flower bouquets is fun! I also have repurposed mens ties to make headbands for my daughters. I just spray painted an old metal file cabinet for my stitching supplies. I put stickers on it that I have collected. And many are from Colorado! My daughter lives in Boulder. Finishing up my August camp project this weekend, and hoping to have it fully finished with something from my repurposing stash! Thanks Sheri!

When I was a kid I briefly collected tins but quickly realized they rusted super fast in my open FL home. I recently picked up a super cute glass jar sake from World Market (my fiance loves sake) it even had a little plastic lid so once he drank it I took it back and now use it as an ORT jar! I'm so, so sorry to hear about your dad. It's so hard losing a parent. It brings up so many touching memories and it's rough getting used to them being gone. 🙏🙏🙏 I have loved that Tetelestai piece since I saw it. I think yours is coming along beautifully! And Huckleberry Farm is lovely! I love the vines going up the sides. What great ways you have for repurposing your antiques for storage! It makes them functional as opposed to just decorations. I don't have any ways in particular that I've repurposed things for stitching storage, but you've given me something to think about! I especially thought the bakers twine in the sugar pourer was perfect! I enjoyed seeing all the goodies. Enjoy the rest of summer😊

Glad to see and hear from you again. Your video's always make me happy as there is so much to see. The weather over here is very hot, basically too hot to do anything , so watching flosstubes is very enjoyable. The only things I reuse in my sewing room to store craft relaxed supplies are baskets and tins. One of my great friends passed away this summer and she was a great lover of small tips she used for prins, needles etc . I have inherited a lot ofvthem and adore using them. Sorry to hear about the passing of your father. My condoleances.

I love storing stitching and quilting items in old tins, baskets, etc. I think it looks so much better than putting things in a plastic storage box, although I have them too. I stitched a small Blackbird piece and FFO's it on a wood box that I got from Hobby Lobby and painted. I have it next to my stitching chair and store new packs of needles in it. Happy Stitching😊

So sorry for the loss of your Father. Mine passed away on June 27th of this year at 93. I miss him, as I am sure you do your Dad. A hospice nurse told me that grief brain is a real thing. So be patient with yourself while you might lose a thought or word here and there. It goes away in a few more weeks, at least it did for me. Bless you, and thank you again for an inspiring, informative video.

Sending hugs and prayers to you and your family during the loss of your father. I lost my father many years ago. I think about him all the time. I also lost one of my sons two years ago. Parents should never out live the parents. What makes me happy is when I go to the second hand stores and find items that I can repurpose. I was able to repurpose an old hanging shoe rack to hold all my little gems. Clear front makes it easy to find things.

Sheri, Condolonces to you and your family on the loss of your father. I know from experience it is so hard to say goodbye to your parents. In regard to repurposing old items to use for your cross stitching, as many have, I use old canning jars with the old tin tops to store all of my old buttons. It makes me so happy so see all of them stored in these jars sitting on my shelf in my sewing room. Thanks for the chance at at the beautiful stitching project bag. It seems I never have enough of them for my projects !!!! Maybe I have too many projects (hhhmmm). No, I don't think so !!!! Looking forward to your next flosstube = I have learned so much from this one = off to the antique stores I go !!!!! Hubby is groaning in the background at this idea. I had better go by myself. See you next time - Happy Stitching.

My sincere condolences to you and you family for the loss of you father. I am glad you were able to spend some time with him before he passed. I can't think of anything I've re-purposed for finishing or storage. The closest thing is a metal candy tin with a flip top lid that I use to put all my ORT's in on the table next to my stitchy spot. The lid snaps shut so I can also take it with me of I go somewhere and not have to worry about spilling my thread scraps everywhere. Happy to see you here again and praying for your peace during this heartbreaking time.

I’m glad you took the time you needed before podcasting. There is definitely a physical as well as mental toll that your body takes with such a great loss. 💕 I love the project bag and would be so happy if it were mine. I live in an area of New England where I can go pick my own berries at local farms and some of my happiest summer moments are in the berry patch with the sun, the birds and the berries. I repurposed a few old canning jars who were missing their tops. I have knitting needles in one and tall scissors in another. They are a beautiful aqua and belonged to my grandmother so I love having them nearby.
