I've been a bit slow in commenting, but here we go😃 ... The piece you stitched when Molly was born is fantastic. It’s touching that she was excited to be reunited with it and has hung it. As for the slub in Ann Campion, worry not. Sarah. Pretend you’re back in medical school and doing surgical rotation. Get out those surgical tools - a sharp needle and a pair of tweezers. From one side of the slub, use the needle to gently tease a little bit of it and then slowly pull that bit out with the tweezers. Little by little. I’ve done this many times and never been left with a hole. Afterwards, with your best bedside manner, don’t forget to smile at the fabric and tell it that it’s going to make a full recovery. As usual, all your stitching is beautiful. Chester’s Place looks great and will be a loving tribute. Count yourself lucky you don’t have to wash all those house windows; maybe Chester licks them clean. Vince is so cute, and that’s a great pic of Stan and his guard dog.

A very good morning to you, Arleen!! I have to sit down with no distractions and get busy with Miss Ann Campion. I wonder what the best anesthesia is for a piece of fabric. I suppose I could spill just a bit of Vodka on the spot, should dry clear, right? I received your beautiful birthday card and was very touched that you took the time. I had an aunt that never missed sending a birthday to all of us. She just signed and put it in the mail, but we all knew her love would come in that envelope and it was wonderful. Hi Sarah, I am trying to catch up on all my FlossTube’s that I have gotten behind on. Now that I am finally retired I will have more time to watch FlossTube. My Cairn, Halfpenny, barks at squirrels up in my redwoods. I carefully use my needle to open up the slub and pull some of the linen “filling” out. Ive never had a problem doing this; no holes in the fabric. Love you! Sally in Northern California 😁

How fun to have a new family member. Our furry buddy, Emmylou the tabby cat, has been an amazing stitching companion for me and all around fun for both of us. Yay! Congratulations on the Eleanor Rigby finish. You went through a lot to get there, but it was worth it! I had a massive slub in a piece not long ago. I went ahead and partially stitched over it, but when the piece was finished it was all I could see. I went back and teased as much out of it as I could, and was able to use the eye of a needle to push most of the rest of the excess fibers to the backside of the fabric. Not perfect, but it no longer shouts "slubslubslub" at me. I hope you're able to deal with yours, as well. I'm so glad things are going well with Annie. She sounds well-behaved, and not at all into chasing the occasional squirrel. I hope she enjoys your family visit this weekend. I'm sure Vince will love her. Take care.

Don’t teach Annie the word squirrel…..you’ll never have peace🤣😂. I agree with comments about Fray Check, it works great. It can also be used instead of serging to help with the fabric that frays easily. If you can find speculaas cookies at a specialty store they are absolutely delicious . My Mom was Dutch and we always had them around Christmas in a package from Holland, along with other Dutch goodies. Chocolate letters, yum😛

Oh I love time with Sarah!! Slubs - I use a Snag Nab it to try to pull it under the linen as much as I can. Then I just stitch over it and it usually isn’t as noticeable as I think it will be! Now, on to continue watching but I knew I’d forget if I didn’t comment half way through 🥰

Jean Farish has a great video tutorial about dealing with slubs. I usually just leave it in place and use the tension of my floss stitches to try to even out the spacing. If it’s got too much fluff, I use Jean’s method to smooth it out. Worst case, remove that thread and pull a thread from the outer edge and weave it into that space.

A little over a year ago, Jackie, of Cross My Stitches, had a FlossTube Extra on her channel showing how to remove slubs from your linen. I have tried her technique many times and, maybe I’m just lucky, but it has never left a hole in my fabric. It’s a very short video from around summer of 2022, and watching it and practicing her method of removing slubs has been life-changing for me. Good luck Sarah!

For your slub issue perhaps you can use a tool like a snag-nab-it and pull most of the fibers to the back of the linen to minimize the size of the slub? Work till you get to it and see where it lays. I had a piece that had a very similar situation and I put it off and stitched all the other stuff and did that spot very last and it missed it by one or two threads. I didn’t realize you are working on Anniversaries of the Heart. I am as well but stitching them separately and rotating them each month in a frame. So far I have stitched eight of the months.
