Hi Carolyn, it's wonderful to see your face again! Just found your last 3 videos and your stitching is still beautiful and your projects are gorgeous 😍. No need for humility; you've done all the hard, emotional work yourself over the past 6 years which is HUGE and flosstube missed you! Kudos strong lady ❤ Can't wait to see all your FO's and stitching from the past few years xxx

So happy that you're making floss tube videos again! The cross stitch community has missed your content tremendously. I learned the parking method from your tutorial and I always refer stitchy friends to it when they see me doing it and wonder how in the world do I keep track of all those threads. Hi, I don't know if someone already found the information, but the hydrangea pattern is from an Anchor Collection kit (Maia) "Moonlight Hydrangea". I could not find it anywhere here online in the US. You might want to try eBay in Australia or the UK. I think its at least as old as 2014. Maybe since it appears out of print, you could contact Anchor and ask if they will either sell you a pattern/kit or give permission to use the fake one. At least it would be above board and you could feel good stitching it. By the way, happy to see you back!

Late to the party! I've had the video up in a tab so I wouldn't forget to watch it...just took a few days lol. Wonderful update Carolyn! That Fairy Whispers design is just incredible. I'm curious to know when you made the switch from doing normal parking in a 10x10 grid to the diagonal parking? Do you find diagonal parking easier, or is it just a matter of preventing page lines?
@TheFlosstubeStitcher
@TheFlosstubeStitcher Жыл бұрын
Haha that’s totally ok Kyle, we’re all very busy. I saw someone stitching diagonally on Instagram one day and i loved it. I loved the way it revealed different parts of the design at one time, which is great for keeping boredom away. I wouldn’t say it’s easier, it’s pretty much exactly the same for me - I do it the same way just in a different direction. I didn’t experience any page lines on my dragon when I stitched that vertically. In fact the only time I’ve experienced page lines was when I stitched my mermaid and I put that down to the fact I did it tent stitch. I learnt a lot about myself and my stitching style after doing that piece!!

I use Goodreader for pdfs that do not work in Pattern Keeper. For printed charts, I snap a picture or pictures (if its big) with my iphone. Thank you so much Susan, it feels like coming home 😍. Yes that’s definitely a video I plan on doing. I’m currently searching for an appropriate setup to video from and then I can do it. Luckily Amazon have some good ones to choose from! Ok so my threads. They are the length of my fingertip to elbow. If I’m doing 2 threads I measure this twice, fold it in half and then do a loop start. I’m glad you think my parked threads look straight… I actually think they look messy 😂😂. I used to clip them together but now I find they just enjoy living together in groups and I just bundle them out the way while I stitch. Hope this helps.

Lovely stitching, I agree you could just try and contact Anchor and ask them for help. Once something is out of print is there a problem with stitching it from your copy? Love the Fairy Whispers! Do you still use the same parking method that you demonstrated in your tutorial years ago?

Thank you so much Tess. Yes I do the same Nth I’d but I now do it diagonally . I’ll be doing a new video on it as soon as my new video setup is ordered and arrives 😍

So glad you are back...I have been using your parking method since I started stitching full coverage designs (just the last year). I have a couple of questions, if that's OK - is your Fairy Whispers Heaven and Earth Design a Max Color chart? I'm currently doing My Lady Unicorn Max Colors by Josephine Wall Heaven & Earth Design 447w x 598h finished size 17 7/8" x 23 7/8" wide, stitching on 25ct Lugana fabric. I'm a year in - 12% done!! I work on it 2-4 hours/day most days. How do you stitch so fast? I just got a floor frame to help me to be hands free. I use your parking method, and stitch two handed, start my threads on the front & park & tie off done threads for the day at one time to save time. But the confetti stitching areas (everywhere) are killing me!! This design has 236 colors. At this rate, I'll be done in 8 years... I have a few other projects going on but this is my focus. Any advice??? You must have some magic that I need to know about...thank you.

Hi Mary, thank you for your comment. I’m so happy to hear you found the parking method tutorial helpful. I plan on doing a new one this year to show how I do it diagonally, which is now my preferred method. Yes my Fair Whispers is max colours. I was thinking about also doing a video on my tips and tricks to stitch faster. There’s a few things I can tell you that help me. Stitching two handed, using a floor stand to hold the frame, definitely speeds things up (so you’re on the right path there!). Next I suggest putting all distractions aside (iphone etc). It’s way too easy to quickly check an email and before you know it you’re browsing Facebook etc and wasted an hour not stitching (trust me… I’ve done it 😕). Stitching time is obviously important. I stitch about 4-5 hours a night, obviously that varies depending on other things I need to do but that’s an average. Also another thing that might help, especially in high confetti areas, is instead of working a 10x10 grid, try doing a 10x20 grid. So you avoid parking and rethreading so many times. You do have to be extremely careful if you it this way though as there’s more chance of placing the stitch in the wrong spot and then having to unpick it later (and that is not fun on a full coverage piece!) Hopefully some of that info helps you Mary. Happy stitching 😍

@@TheFlosstubeStitcher Thanks for replying so quickly! 💕 I am doing it diagonally, so that's good & I just recently changed to doing the 10x20 grid!! It is helping a bunch. You are right about being so careful - it sends me over the top to go backwards & it's almost impossible- I haven't had too much frogging to do but I have had trouble with the chart symbols at times - i.e., two "z" symbols that look identical representing two different colors. I'm using Good Reader so I don't seem to have a search function (can't use Pattern Maker re I have apple products), but I have brought up the chart in Adobe on my main computer & was able to at least work out the similar symbols using the search function. How frustrating!! Your right about the phone - I'd like to just throw it away, but I do have children (older) so can't miss their calls & texts...everybody & everything else can just wait. I think you doing a video on your tips & tricks to stitch faster would be great!! 💗Please put that on your list & in your schedule!! Your videos are so great - a cut above the rest for sure. It'd be good to see how you tie off the threads in the back - I'm accumulating them on the side in the front & then working them back thru a bit in the back all at one time - then I'm only turning my work once/night. Thanks again - nice to be able to touch base "in person" with someone who gets it - everyone around me thinks I'm just crazy to do all of this but I love it & couldn't not do it!! Such great therapy & meditation!!

I’m glad the 10x20 is helping - I find it so much better in the heavy confetti areas. You may want to give Markup R-XP a go. It’s available on Apple and it allows you to search for the symbols. Not that I’ve used that function I’m finding it so slow without it 😂. I’m new to the program so can’t give much advice but they have a lot of tutorials on KZbin on how to use it which I found very helpful. With all the alphabet, numbers and symbols, it still baffles me why they use similar symbols on charts 🙁 As far as tying off the threads at the back, I just run them through a few of the finished stitches. I know exactly what you mean. I could rave about cross stitch for hours to anyone willing to listen, trouble is no one in my family/friends wants to hear it 😂😂

@@TheFlosstubeStitcher Thanks - I'll look into Markup R-XP - on the surface it looks great - just wondering if it would be worth the work to change from Good Reader...I'll let you know what I learn. So glad to have this connection - fun to have the same obsession - & for us to know it's really not that crazy!! lol 💖
