Love the question on world cross stitch day, I didn’t know it was a thing. It appears that it’s the 2nd Friday in August each year. I love it when Charlotte joins you. Her smile is so infectious and the joy on her face with her medals and her Nebraska bear. Love her. Looking forward to seeing your plans in the next few days. Happy Stitching and see you soon ❤❤

I think it would be grand if on the Modern Folk Embroidery piece, you start in the middle with the alphabet. Letters seem to go quickly and perhaps you could choose your initials? I found I do have one chart by MFE, called spoons. It is so gorgeous and I'm dying to start it. I really haven't seen anyone else stitching, but it is is BIG and one color!! I think I might go with blue instead of red...

Great to see you tonight Sarah & the beautiful Charlotte Go Nebraska 👏👏👏 Glad you are feeling better. Sorry about the frogging, at least you were unwell. I have no such reason, I'm blaming the Olympics, I'd have won a couple of gold medals for frogging at this stage. It was great watching the games & seeing how well Ireland did. Even though it would involve more frogging, I would change the thread on the scissors. Love your wee heart. Looking forward to your video with Sally. I have Fancy An ABC in my stash, I'm very tempted to start it but I have the 2023 SAL to finish first. Hope you continue to feel better. Take care, best wishes from 🇮🇪

I was so thrilled to see Sam on your video when I watched yesterday. It helped me understand who’s doing what for Flossabilities. So, when he does the artwork you chart? And sometimes you do the artwork yourself too? I really should give Sam credit , so it helps to understand. However it’s working though, you’re a very strong team and I wish I had more days in the week so I could get to all the patterns I’ve purchased sooner. I love to see your business growing from its infancy. Great job, team Flossabilities!

@@sewmesarahhi Sarah!! Thank you so much for your lovely words! Yes that’s exactly right, our shop has a mix of sams artwork (cabin for example) and also my own (polar bears for example) but I chart and stitch anything me or Sam comes up with 😂 mama chips in too and help with some of the smaller models and finishing! A real team effort 😂 as Sam’s only role is the artwork part and he has such a talent I definitely ask that he comes up more than me as I’ve got a few things to juggle so I come up with new ones occasionally but not as often 😂 if it’s Sam’s artwork I always put this in the designer notes of the chart to give him his due credit! Hi Sarah! Hi Charlotte! What beautiful medals sent by Erica! I can definitely tell that you are feeling better, although not at 100% yet. Your stitching is beautiful as always. Wednesday is the big day for us. Took Walter over to the new house and he seemed to really enjoy it, although we did have one tired little one on the way home. He even said he was very tired and actually fell asleep while eating his last chicken nugget in his car seat. He was such a good helper as well as we were carrying things in. Looking forward to the move but not to the unpacking, of course, but I do plan to take advantage of the situation and change my floss organization system at least from my DMC set and will start stitching from a master set instead of pulling all the thread for each kit like I have been. Will take a lot of work but I think it will be worth it in the end. Hope you are soon feeling 100% better. Dawn in Texas

Hello! Nice to see the show stealer again! lol. We love you but when Miss Charlotte joins us I stop stitching and just take it all in. On your piece with the metallic thread I think you should keep on with the metallic thread even though it’s a pain - some torture every once in a while is worth it. Oh the Jacob start tomorrow has been downgraded from 1 over 1 to 2 over 1 and it will be a modified piece. I plan to stitch about 1/3 of it and not sure the ABC’s will be on it. Either way it will be pretty. And I also agree that the chart from that other designer also reminded me of Jacob’s winter cabin - which is also in my plans to start next year. Glad you are feeling better.

What a thrill for Charlotte to receive her Disney medals. I've put aside the 50th WA Sampler as I went away and had a lovely weekend for a family event then by the time I came home with a gastric bug - not the way I meant to lose over half a stone! - I'm still fuzzy so got out 'My Craft Room' piece on its frame (I won from you ages ago) and am doing a bit of that. Don't want to frog on the special piece. Not thinking my finger is healing properly when splint is off and frustration level is building seeing my untouched pile of WIPs and kitted up New Starts but as long as I can slowly progress on the gift with my left hand I'm grateful and I'm always flattened when it's hot anyway 🙃. 9th August IF a World X Stitch Day would tie in next year with our 50th WA - this year's was quiet due to me still recovering! Sinus kicked in so I sympathised with your fuzzy head. Lovely way to recover with Kathleen and stitching gifts.😊
@sewmesarah
@sewmesarah 27 күн бұрын
I hope you are recovered from your gastric bug Jean. Most unpleasant, especially in the heat. I can imagine how frustrating it 8 that your finger isn’t healing as quickly as you’d hoped but overdoing it won’t help so keep being patient, my friend. Folks have been telling me that world cross stitch day is the second Friday in August so it will fall on the 8th next year. You could still celebrate in anticipation of your anniversary on 8th and then go to dinner somewhere nice on 9th 😉

Charlotte is such a cutie! On the Barbara Ana stitch with the scissors, I think I'd try backstitching the scissors with a dark gray. They kind of blend into the fabric, which is a shame since metallic stitching should be seen! Don't worry about his the stitches look. I think most people look at the overall stitch and not the individual stitches. Love the fabric you stitched the heart on. I like any different colored fabrics...well truthfully I like all fabrics. Dear Sarah, I enjoy your Flosstube greatly and I am pleased to hear that you are feeling much better. I am an admirer of Jacob's work too and watched his hem stitch tutorial. Please be aware that there are other, and in my opinion, better ways to work a hem. Jacob drew threads not only where the hem stitch is sewn but also on the folds of the hem where it is not necessary. Additionally, he did not mitre the corners. As a consequence of having boxed not mitred corners, the corner stitching is exposed along the edge and detracts from the finish. Jane Greenoff, of the Cross Stitch Guild has good explanations of scoring fabric for folding the hem and mitred corners in many of her publications including her Cross Stitch Bible. This is my preferred method. Gingerbread Girl designs has a Hemstitch Edge Tutorial on You Tube which is excellent also. I would try the different methods and see which you prefer before committing to one way on a finished piece of cross stitch. Although time consuming, a hemstitch edge is neat and very satisfying. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I do. Take care, Linda.

Thank you so much for this information Linda. I didn’t know where to go for good info and so I was delighted when Jacob finally released his. But, I do have to say with my quilting background I was wondering why he didn’t do a mitred hem. I know I would prefer that even in terms of managing the bulk of the material at the corner. Thank you so much for pointing me in the direction of reliable resources on that. I really appreciate it.

How about 3 different pairs of scissors? I wouldn't unpick the finished scissors! What about a rose gold pair? And a red pair?! Can't wait to see your joint video!

Hi Sarah, after some investigation, World cross stitch day post said it is the 2nd Friday of August. Next year will be the 8th.. just for planning purposes!! Teri

Thanks Terri. It seems to be kind of low key. Or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention … 😉

Well, hello Miss Charlotte, good to see you! Thank you for coming on to mummy’s video to show us your gifts 😍. Sarah, it’s good to see you and know that you’re feeling better, too. It must be getting close to the new school year, so hope that all goes well for Charlotte and mum and dad! Fab projects as always 👏🏻. God bless xx

Thank you so much Jean. Start should be late August but we haven’t heard anything definite yet.

Hello! So happy to hear you are on the mend. In answer to your question, I had no idea until late in the day about it being World Cross Stitch Day! I’ll look forward to adding it to my calendar when you get an answer as to the fixed date! Thanks for throwing that out there. I thought I had missed the news some where too!! 🌻

Mentions of World Cross Stitch Day took me by surprise too. Seems it is the second Friday in August annually. Note your diary now! 😉

Great to see you and lovely miss Charlotte too ❤ I brought the new cabin in the woods pattern which I love but a bit scared of stitching on a dark fabric 🤔🧐😬 xx

Oh I hope you love working on Cabin in the Woods. Good lighting and something white on your lap (a cushion or a towel) while you work on the dark fabric will help you see the hole more easily. Also try a slate grey fabric (which I think is what Lauren stitched on) as it’s not just as dark as black and a little easier in my experience. Don’t be afraid, give it a go and give your eyes time to adjust. It’s okay if you feel it’s low going to start with, you will improve as you get used to it. 😊

Thanks Joy. I think we need to celebrate World Cross Stitch day a little more widely as a community because it seems I’m not the only one who didn’t really know about it.
