Wonderful video!! My grandfather was from England and our family tradition was mincemeat pie on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I remember my mom and grandma getting together to make it in advance and then adding brandy to the mince until the holidays. My family is gone now and so is the tradition. I'm 73 and I sure miss that pie so much. I have bought mincemeat in the store but there is no comparison. Please keep your traditions for as long as possible so your children will have great memories. ❤

I love visiting with you and loved hearing of your Christmas traditions. We always opened gifts on the 24th. Santa only left what would fit in our stocking. Dinner was always chili and breadstitcks . Many Christmas blessings to you and your family! Great job Charlotte on the lovely song 😊. We wish you a merry Christmas from Colorado in the U.S. My favorite Christmas tradition is the candlelight service at church. There is something very special about a church filled with candlelight (battery operated candles for the little ones to hold) while singing silent night. I sadly haven’t done it every year, but it helps root my heart in the true reason for the season, Jesus. ❤

Congratulations on your 50 starts and your 50th birthday. I watch every one of your flosstubes but sometimes I forget to like and comment. I'm trying to get better at that. Our traditions change this year as my youngest son is now married and his wife is from Michigan. Last year they stayed home for Christmas Day and left the day after but this year they left today on the 21st. We had Christmas several Saturdays ago. We would usually spend it at home together along with the two grandmothers. This year. It's my eldest son and the two grandmothers and My husband and I. We like to reflect on what Christmas is all about, Jesus Christ, our Savior. So thank you for reading those scriptures. Tell Charlotte that Karen in Maryland USA, wishes her and her family a very Merry Christmas.

Thank you for the reading and Charlotte's singing which was just what I needed. Due to being home/abroad or husband on shift then daughter working in care for teenagers our traditions have sometimes latterly meant not always being celebrated on 25th. I still make the cake and icing, Christmas puddings, trifle and cream sponge etc, decorate and 'phone relations and friends. A box of crackers bought years ago are for decoration. Congratulations on reaching 50 starts. I don't think 50 finishes would have worked the same😮😂! You did manage a few though. I think I will try and have another go at Rejoice Evermore as yours looks lovely. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you soon Sarah 😊

We wish you a Merry Christmas as well. It was so sweet to hear Charlotte singing. Thank you, sweet girl. Every year before gifts are opened we read the Christmas story from Luke 2. We read the King James Version. I can still hear in my memory the way my daddy always said “and they were sore afraid..” Each year I reread a novel entitled Shepherds Abiding by Jan Karon. It is a delightful story of a retired episcopal priest restoring a nativity set for his wife as a surprise. The story takes place in a little village in North Carolina called Mitford. The audio version is also wonderful. Wesley has his check list at Christmas which he makes sure we get accomplished. It mostly revolves around food. He really holds our feet to the fire on that one. Thank you Sarah for sharing your Christmas tidbits with us. It has been wonderful. One question- a Christmas sack/bag is new to us. You showed the beautiful ones you made for your children on the last video. Nancy and I decided that the children leave their Christmas sack/bag out for Santa to fill with presents. Is that correct? Have a very Happy Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you and your family Sarah! Tell Charlotte I really enjoyed the song you sang for us. A tradition that has fallen by the wayside here that I sometimes miss is going to get a real Christmas tree. My parents would come up Thanksgiving weekend and we would go with the boys to cut down a tree. The rest of that weekend would be spent making the cut out sugar cookies for Christmas. As the years passed my parents couldn't go with us anymore to get a tree and the boys lost interest in it. We now have an artificial tree which at least doesn't drop needles all over. I love having the tree up with our ornaments and pretty lights. We still do the cookies but usually closer to Christmas and the boys, who are 32, 30, 24 help not because they necessarily enjoy it but because otherwise I won't make them.

That was thoroughly enjoyable! Congrats on finishing the 50 starts. I wonder how long till they are all finished!! Christmas crackers are definitely a British thing. I’ve done them a few times as an adult and they are silly. I miss childhood traditions of our youth group always doing a sleigh ride out in the forest, I miss the treat bags we would get in church on Xmas eve, but I very much love Christmas carols by candlelight at church. And the odd time I’ve been able to get to Winnipeg to see a Christmas symphony. I love waking up at 6 a.m and stitching for an hour in the mornings all December with the Christmas lights on.

Oh Joanne I love all of those traditions you mentioned, except the crackers of course. It has been many years since I went to a candlelit carol service. Most aren’t even candlelit anymore because of health and safety 🙄 Merry, merry Christmas to you.

I hope that Charlotte's singing will become a tradition on your channel at Christmas! She did an amazing job! 🌺❤When my children still lived at home (they're both in their 30s now), Christmas Eve was all about eating and board games. We put out a table of sandwiches, salads, cookies, cakes, chips, etc, etc. If you were hungry, you got something to eat even in the middle of a board game. We played cards as well, depending on what the kids wanted to play. Now they're all grown up and have lives of their own. It will be just me and my husband on Christmas Eve. We haven't come up with any traditions for that yet. Christmas day it will just be my step-son. My two won't be coming. We'll go have a meal at a restaurant sometime in January with my daughter and her SO. I wish you and yours peace, joy and happiness throughout the holiday season and beyond. Enjoy your time with your family and sneak off to put in some stitches when you think they won't notice! 😂 Take care!

Thank you, Sarah, for these lovely tidbits; I’ve enjoyed them all and especially the readings. Thank you, Charlotte, for helping mummy with your beautiful singing! Rejoice evermore looks stunning. I’m 100% with you on the Christmas crackers!! Like you, traditions have come and gone over the years. One that did disappear was trying to sit down to traditional dinner on Christmas Day! With four adult children/partners and six grandchildren, it has become impossible to cater in that way. So, for those who are visiting, we keep it simple with a festive buffet. Who wants to be up to their elbows in vegetable peelings when excited grandchildren are around and opening presents?! Sadly, I missed out on much of the excitement with ours when they were small because I was stuck in the kitchen, so I’m making up for it now! Wishing you and your family a very happy and blessed Christmas and much peace and contentment in the coming year. God bless. 🙂

Great job of you and Charlotte singing together. 🤗 I love family Christmas traditions but some have been lost of course since my parents are now gone and my children have family of their own. When my parents were still here every Christmas Eve they made oyster stew. Now I couldn't and still can't abide oysters but I loved the broth and the oyster crackers and it all smelled wonderful. Christmas morning our mom and dad would go down first, start the coffee, turn on the lights and music then call us down. We four kids ran down the stairs and were always just thrilled to see everything. "Santa" was very neat and the presents were all around but in neat little piles. For some reason I just loved that. Oh my I feel myself beginning to wander down Memory Lane. Thanks so very much for sharing all of your traditions and stories about Christmas. It has been wonderful. Merry Christmas one more time to you and yours. xoxoxo

Hi Sarah! I am also starting Barbara Ana’s The Four Seasons design. I started it on 32ct raw linen which was also very tight - so much that I gave up and used a 28ct evenweave from my stash. I typically stitch on hand dyed 32ct but this raw linen was just too small for my eyes. I wonder why this is? Anyway, I’m loving this stitch so far! Happy stitching and congrats on 50 starts to celebrate your birthday milestone!

What a lovely treat to finish with a song from yourself & beautiful Charlotte. She has grown up so much this past year. My late mother always said that if we ever married, we would not be coming to her house for Christmas Day dinner. For some reason she had a real thing about married couples rotating Christmas Day dinner between families. Roll on many years & my brother got married. His wife believed that they would be invited to ours for dinner. My poor brother was in bits having to tell her that wasn't going to happen. So in the end they decided to, reluctantly, stay at home. To their great surprise they loved it & have continued ever since, over 30 years now. The other tradition is the lighting of a new pillar candle on Christmas Eve. Always lit by the youngest in the house with the saying "Go mbeirimid beo ar an amazing seo aris " That we may live to see this time again next year. Hope you have a wonderful time with your family. Take care, best wishes from 🇮🇪

I’ve never heard of the pillar candle tradition. Was that just your family or something lots of families do? I love that.
@annemarie696223 сағат бұрын
@sewmesarah I believe it started in penal times to let a priest know it was a safe place to say Mass. Then it became a welcome sign for Mary & Joseph. Perhaps it was a West of Ireland tradition. My Aunt said they always did it in my mother's house growing up. My Aunt is the youngest & loved being allowed to light the candle. Happy Christmas.

Thank you, Charlotte for the lovely song and happy Christmas to both of you x. I'm totally in agreement about the Christmas crackers. I grew up in South Africa where our Christmases, too, were peppered with useless noisy crackers. And over the years, they seemed to get progressively more tacky, less functional, the jokes too repetitive and with less coveted gifts...so I am not a fan! Anyway, the tradition I miss the most is when my grandmother would hide money coins in the Christmas pudding. First, she would boil the coins for hours (to clean them thoroughly), and then make sure each grandchild got a fair amount in their pudding bowl. I'm not sure that would be considered safe these days!

My grandmother wrapped money coins in foil and put them into apple tarts at Halloween. I don’t ever hear of anyone doing that now. Brings back memories. Thank you for sharing.

I going to miss hearing all about our new starts. I think we might still hear about them though as you make progress. Our longstanding tradition is to make gingerbread houses. My husband bakes the gingerbread. Funnily enough, when I was a child growing up in England and Canada, we always had crackers, and I introduced that tradition to my family…it still stands, but I can see what you mean about it being an easier tradition to give up! We can get them here in the US. Perhaps you should revive the Chinese food on Christmas Eve tradition with your own family?
