In the warmth wrap the entire joint in black electrical tape. There's no stopping the pvc from cracking in that kinda cold but the electrical tape if stretched on should retain enough elasticity to flex to keep everything sealed up

You rock . I put a check valve on my hand pump and a hose to my bucket. Works good . Put a screw through the intake to make the rocks smaller. More sands less plugging. Less rock . . Blessings

I've got a sluice pump like that but we use tennis balls on the end of the plunger. I know they work but I suspect some gold is lost if you're not quick enough getting it over the bucket when the water comes out. I have just ordered a 6 meter long vacuum cleaner hose to try a gravity suction dredge. I'm gonna build the end onto a metal bucket and build a sluice inside the bucket with a hole at the bottom for the water and gravel to empty out... Mad scientist shit but worth a try.... Cheers
