Erik Thor, I want to tell you how Islam explains psychology. While you are so interested in and fascinated by personality types, so am I. The things I have learned from it surprised me, too. But First of all, it should be said that in the Qur'an (The Words of Allah), both men and women are considered equal in terms of spirit, personality, morality and intelligence, which are characteristics that everyone has, but they vary. In fact, human creation in all general is also considered equal. For this reason, it is said that our beginning was created from soil and then we were constantly created from an embryo in Qur'an, with no emphasis on gender or race. That's quite interesting because no one remembers this fact but Allah says it. Then, when we die, we become dust like in the very beginning, and our Lord, who created us from the beginning will resurrect us to the eternal world, that is, the afterlife, and inform us of what we have done in this world and rewards us according to our good and evil deeds. This part is really like the essence of life, it's about how we came and where we are going. If we turn back to the topic, The human soul is also fascinating and surprising. Because, it's part of the way how we handle this world. We use the cerebral functions mentioned in MBTI for our cognitive perception of this world. And, this is also a subject mentioned in the Qur'an. "Say, "It is He who has produced you and made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]; little are you grateful.""(67:23) While this verse emphasizes how important these great blessings given to humans are, it talks about humans' ability to understand and feel. What is mentioned in this verse is very similar to what we call cognitive functions. This is very impressive but this topic doesn't stop there. "Say, [O Muḥammad (peace be upon Him)], "I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel. I only follow what is revealed to me." Say, "Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Then will you not give thought?"" (6:150) “(O Prophet! Don't feel sad because they turn away from the truth despite all the warnings!) Will you make (the truth) heard to the deaf (who turn a deaf ear to the message of your Lord)? Or will you guide those who are blind and are wandering in obvious error?” (43:40) “Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him?, Or do you think that most of them listen or understand? They are only like cattle-no, more than that, they are astray from the ˹Right˺ Way!” (25:43-44) There are so many verses like this about thinking, hearing and seeing that the importance of this is underlined so much in the Qur'an means that Allah, the Almighty Creator has Not given us these Magnificent features in Vain, there is a reason for them, as every part of the creation of this world is based on a wisdom. So reasoning with our cognitive functions is that important. Another interesting part I want to tell about personality in Islam is called Nafs (Self) is said to exist in every person and Nafs is an Arabic word meaning:"self", "psyche" or "soul ". At first I thought it was what we have from the worldly pleasures, but then I realized that this is actually something hidden in our personalities. Self always wants to be in good state, but if it directs just to the worldly pleasure dimension (Al hawa - lust or desire), it forgets the spiritual, moral and intelligence dimension, so this always harms us in other ways. The issue turns out to be ambition, laziness or hedonism etc. Even if their opposite which are virtues like patience, dedication, kindness, hard work, gratefulness, being satisfied and so on are the secrets of living this life beautifully and peacefully. And these virtues that need effort are difficult for us in the process but their results are Better and more Beneficial to us than the other way (the desire). However we are human and we make mistake Allah says about this; “Except for those that repent (Even) after that, and make amends; for verily Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”(3:89) “[Allah says "O Muḥammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful, and that My torment is indeed the most painful.” (15:49-50) And Allah tells us about those who only follow their desires will not be guided and in the right way. "But if they do not respond to you - then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allāh? Indeed, Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people." (28:50) "Have you seen ˹O Prophet˺ those who have taken their own desires as their god? ˹And so˺ Allah left them to stray knowingly, sealed their hearing and hearts, and placed a cover on their sight. Who then can guide them after Allah? Will you ˹all˺ not then be mindful?" (45:23) The part of us that wants this peaceful and beautiful life is also nafs, the soul. Because it occurred in the infinite realm and It is affected by this situation. It suffers from the damages that occur as a result of the some pleasures obtained in the wrong way for a short term (compared to eternity), and because it is connected to eternity and is included in the body later, In the end the worldly pleasures is not just what we really seek for. The pleasures obtained in the right way is something Allah wants us to seek from His bounty and has already created for us. "We made the night and the day as two signs, then darkened the night and made the daylight for seeing, for you to seek your Lord’s bounty and to know how to count the years and calculate. We have explained everything in detail." (17:12) “And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor [i.e., blessings] of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful.” (14:34) "And when the prayer is ended, then disperse in the land and seek of Allah's bounty, and remember Allah much, that ye may be successful." (62:10) However, Our Lord also warns us about the mortality and deceitfulness of the world. "Know that this worldly life is no more than play, amusement, luxury, mutual boasting, and competition in wealth and children. This is like rain that causes plants to grow, to the delight of the planters. But later the plants dry up and you see them wither, then they are reduced to chaff. And in the Hereafter there will be either severe punishment or forgiveness and pleasure of Allah, whereas the life of this world is no more than the delusion of enjoyment." (57: 20) "What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will ye not then understand?"(6:34) I think these verses below contain how we attain our ultimate happiness both in this world and hereafter. "..There are some who pray, ‘Our Lord, give us good in this world,’ and they will have no share in the Hereafter; Yet there are others who say, “Our Lord! Grant us the good of this world and the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”" (2:200-201)

Part-2' Despite of turning our face completely to this world and our desires, No one can guarantee that we will have whatever we want in this world and even if you obtain some it is temporary and limited compared to eternal reward by Allah. "Or Is a person to have everything s/he wishes for, But to Allâh belongs the last (Hereafter) and the first (the world)." (53:24-25) "Or have you a Book wherein you learn, that you will have whatever you choose?, Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge?" (68:37-39) In the end, only Allah can grant what we want both in this world and the eternal life. "If some want the rewards of this world, the rewards of this world and the next are both God’s to give: He hears and sees everything." (4:134) “O you who have believed, respond to Allāh and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah stands between a person and their heart, and that to Him you will all be gathered.” (8:24) This means that God's way will actually bring us goodness in this world too even if we are pious and submissive to Allah. Allah informs us in the Qur'an that the Reward in the Afterlife is Better and More Permanent than this world, and He gives His servants the formulas for how we can achieve the best results both this life and hereafter by overcoming this (desire-prone-it can be for food, fun, fame, money, luxury etc.) aspect of ourselves and the difficulties in this world and how we can walk in the direction drawn by Allah, through His Books and His Prophets, peace be upon Them. Isn't it true that Allah who is The Greatest, the Almighty and the Most Merciful has the power to create everything from scratch, the best knowledge of what aspects we have, and He is the one who shows us the Right Path. "Whether you speak secretly or openly-He surely knows best what is ˹hidden˺ in the heart. How could He not know His Own creation? For He ˹alone˺ is the Most Subtle, All-Aware." (67:13-14) We are always in search of the right path and in the knowledge of Allah, and yet the answers have been already given by Him, the Almighty Lord of all Sovereignty. "O People of the Book! Our Messenger has indeed come to you, making things clear to you after an interval between the messengers so you do not say, “There has never come to us a deliverer of good news or a warner.” Now there has come to you a deliverer of good news and a warner. And Allah is Most Capable of everything." (5:19) "Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example for whoever has hope in Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah often." (33:21) "To each is a goal to which Allah turns him; then strive together (as in a race) Towards all that is good. Wheresoever ye are, Allah will bring you Together. For Allah Hath power over all things." (2:148) Surely, The best outcome is for the pious whom is mindful of Allah, The Almighty and The Creator of everything. "That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muḥammad, peace be upon Him]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [Best] Outcome is for the Righteous." (11:49) "To whoever, male or female, does Good Deeds and has Faith, We shall give a Good Life and Reward them according to the Best of their Actions." (16:97) "And those who Believe (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) and do Righteous Good Deeds, to them We shall surely give lofty dwellings in Paradise, Underneath which Rivers flow, to live therein Forever. Excellent is the Reward for the workers."(, 29:58) "There will certainly be No Fear for the Close Servants of Allah, Nor will They Grieve. For those who believe and are conscious of Allah (the God), for them there is good news in this life and in the Hereafter- there is no changing the promises of Allah- that is truly the Supreme Triumph."(10:62-64) I hope It's kind of a helper for whatever you are going through because we are not alone and Allah All-Knowing and Aware of everything does not burden anyone with a burden that one cannot bear (2:286). With peace and truth in the way Allah, Insha'Allah (if Allah wills).

@@Gjakdjruknownhpjs Thank you about being impressed by this article. I am surprised too that someone read it other than the owner of this channel. I hope this was helpful to you. In fact human psyche is a topic that is related to and widely taken place in Islam, there is even a field named Islamic Psychology or ilm an-nafs (science of the soul). Therefore, Many Muslim scholars have emerged in the field of psychology. Also, You can find many verses about human characteristics in Qur’an such as these following verses: “Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ created humankind and ˹fully˺ know what their souls whisper to them, and We are closer to them than ˹their˺ jugular vein.” (50:16) “And by the soul and ˹the One˺ Who fashioned it, (Ps: That means Allah is the One who creates humans and decides their features in every aspect, included the cognitive abilities and has the solutions of how they can use these in a best way that is the Islam guidance.) "then with ˹the knowledge of˺ right and wrong inspired it! Successful indeed is the one who purifies their soul, and doomed is the one who corrupts it!” (91:7-10) "the knowledge of˺ right and wrong " refers to our consciences, which further explains how the concept of right and wrong in the religion is related to our selves as they are mentioned together. There are also about cognitive functions such as; “Have you seen ˹O Prophet, (peace be upon Him)˺ those who have taken their own desires as their god? ˹And so˺ Allah (The Almighty and the Greatest) left them to stray knowingly, => sealed their hearing and hearts, and placed a cover on their sight. Who then can guide them after Allah? Will you ˹all˺ not then be mindful?” (45:23) It mentions about the human ability to understand, which means cognitive functions. They are linked to our body, brain and heart. They are so many times mentioned together in Quran like this verse above. Hearing, sight, feeling and sensing are connected to brain, for this reason even if people are not blind, deaf or dumb physically, our comprehensions can be closed mentally because of this blocking which occurs because of our actions. So they are very connected with our life, personality and sprituality. They are all in the abstract side of human just like MBTI functions, personalities, enneagram and etc. We can only accept them because they have visible effects on ourselves and in other ways. Otherwise, we would be only a flesh body but we are acting on our own will. There is a relation to the spiritual that means soul. Also, the definition of psychology is: “The word psychology derives from the Greek word psyche, for => spirit or soul. The latter part of the word psychology derives from -λογία -logia, which means "study" or "research"" (from Wikipedia) With this explanation, that can be seen very clearly why they are very connected with each other and in fact the same thing; Nafs = Soul, Self and the personality, MBTI cognitive functions = Humans' distinct abilities of understanding. Besides, this confusion explains how much people analyze human behavior, psychology and personality but never come up with the reasons and answers about why people actually experience with their selves, how they manage these aspects and never give the effective solutions for them. Lastly there is a quote which demonstrates how it’s connected with the humans behaviour and being a good people in the sight of the religion and why they work together from a Well-known Islamic scholar, Ghazali said, "Either be busy with your own self; or become someone who is busy with others after you have corrected your soul. Do not be the type who is busy with others unless you are busy with your own self and correct it!" (Ghazali, ihya, 1,182)
