We sold our house and are downsizing. I've been packing breakables and listing items for sale through Facebook. But today, after hours and hours of this routine, I needed to unwind. Selling a house is so stressful! Your videos are one of the best ways for me to calm down and relax. I didn't realize it until today but it's true. These videos are like meditation or medication. Doctors should prescribe you to anxious people. Thanks.

Absolutely stunning wreath it's my favourite combination red roses and red standard carnations with different colours of foliage gorgeous I much prefer the traditional wreath than a spray the significance of the circle is beautiful As for the humble carnations they are one of my favourite flowers to work with I particularly love the green carnations and the antique pinky green ones are sublime a totally underrated flower and great value too I Love the size of the wreath you made I like to go bigger on a 12 " it's all about using the foliage right to get the more expensive looking item I think

Thank you so much. This wreath was a stunner - and I agree that they tend to get overlooked a little. So bigger and fuller catches the eye. But a classic item is timeless and roses and carnations just work well together 🌼

Wreathes are such a universal symbol, funerals, christmas ,on the door, wedding crowns, they are definitely making a welcome resurgence. I love the carnations colour just to add to the luxury aesthetic. 🌹🏵🌲

One of the things I love about you John, is that you love foliage. I'm glad you didn't put the roses in first, because I prefer to see you build it up. Often, your foliage would almost be enough without the flowers! You usually add a variety of colours and textures as you did here. I think this makes the arrangements look special always and a beautiful back of foliage makes the flowers pop out and be even more special. In other words, I agree with you! I thought that this was a lovely week for you to do this particular wreath as it reminds me of Remembrance Day, which is a solemn and important national day here in Canada. I know that it is celebrated in the UK as well.
@FlowerJoos
@FlowerJoos 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yes, I do like a mix of foliage - I think it looks more realistic and interesting than just one type alone. That is a beautiful idea the connection with Remembrance Day - it’s those colours, and a ring represents a never ending circle - just as we will always remember those who fell. Thank you for commenting and watching 🌹🙋🏼‍♂️

Thanks, John! This is really beautiful. You are an inspiration particularly around your use of greens. It was from you that I picked up the idea of using a variety of greens to achieve contrast, texture, and interest. You've certainly done that here, and with the flowers as well. Years ago I despised making anything in the "round" and today I absolutely love it. Just shows what can happen if you persist. Thanks again, John. You inspire!

Hello, If doing for Christmas. When would be the optimum time to do this. How long will an arrangement like this last. Many thanks, your channel is incredible.
@FlowerJoos
@FlowerJoos 3 жыл бұрын
It depends on when you have visitors as the main thing, as well as where you might place it. If outside on the door the; it will last well as cooler, but would need watered every day. Also if below zero it will freeze - that ok if it stays below zero for the whole time, but will be dead when defrosted. If inside it’s warmer, so best to make the day before you need it. Keep in a cool place until needed, and rewater every da6 fir best results. Ultimately it’s a balance between using it and just enjoying it, or doing everything to try and keep it, but that can be less enjoyable ( as in keeping it in a cool room and then you don’t see it ) A good option for long term designs is fresh foliage and good faux flowers 😀🌼🙋🏼‍♂️

Great video as usual! I have a wee question about using a foam wreath - I’m considering using one for an indoor Christmas wreath with foraged foliage as it‘s a good shape, easy to fill and seems sturdy. Is the wreath foam soaked prior? And with an indoors arrangement would I run the risk of some bottom pieces falling out if they end up a bit too dry when hung for a while with central heating on? Should I mist every so often? Last year I used entwined willow branches for a ring then made individual clusters of foliage tied onto the willow. They were sturdy but the willow ring started to sag and my wreath stated to look a bit…oval toward the end!!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’d like to try the foam plastic ring for sturdiness and longevity this year!
@FlowerJoos
@FlowerJoos 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Jen - good question. The foam ring would be fine inside - outside the materials might get blown away! Yes, you would pre-soak it, then create your design and let it drip over a sink for a little while, before placing. It’s best to mist it every day, and you can resoak every few days for the best longevity. Bottom bits should be ok and not fall out. The base needs to be solid for a wreath to not lose shape - the fresh willow last year would dry out and become lose and this would allow it to lose its shape. So a wire frame inside would of solved this a bit, as would adding more willow for volume. But for fresh foliage the foam ring is the easiest solution available just now. You can also wrap the ring in clingfilm to hold in water and insert the stems through this. Then resoak by submerging in a tub of water. You can even leave it in water for a few hours to rehydrate. Enjoy getting creative 😀🌼
@FlowerJoos
@FlowerJoos 3 жыл бұрын
Another great base is the straw versions - then you can tie your material onto them. It gives quite a compact effect, but also a very good option. 🌼

@@gardensnob1 yes, definitely need to create a bespoke base. Depends on size and use - so a Christmas tree could be make onto a chicken wire frame - the foliage could be wired on and flowers tubed and inserted 🧐

Add purple and red berries, 3 tall purple candles, one tall pink candle and a large white candle in the center then it’s the perfect Advent wreath.

@@FlowerJoos There are certain items that should be on a wreath to consider it Advent like purple (a sign of repentance) and I know red berries signify something and everything should be real not fake so you got that part covered. The candles are 3 purple and one pink with large white one you light on Christmas Day. It’s all on line. I will make one luke you showed us. Thank you so much!

@@FlowerJoos I will. I have the ministry at our Catholic Church making the floral arrangements and also my friends and I are in charge of Christmas decorations once Advent ends. I will make an advent wreath for our church and for my own home. I will send photos. It will look like your’s but will have a few purple flowers and red berries. I learn a lot from your videos so thank you for making them.

Hi John . I am from South Africa and stumbled across your channel not too long ago Love your designs. Is there a possibility you could supply the recipe including the amount to be used ? Since bunches needs to be purchased , will assist with purchasing. This will be so helpful please, especially this wreath design as I will be making a few wreaths soon and I am a florist in training.Thanks so much ,

Thank you 😊 welcome to the channel - that’s a good idea to be more accurate. We tend to list things in the description - just tap on a videos title to see, but actual stem counts help as well. We are just about to enter wreath making season - enjoy designing yours 🌼🙋🏼‍♂️

@@FlowerJoos I'd love to do something like this for my Christmas wreath but I'd have to do it with silk flowers as I like to decorate from December 1st!!! Perhaps I will try it and maybe send you a photo of it hanging on my front door!!!! Assuming it looks half decent 🙄 I'm currently in Spain on holiday...after 2 years!!!! and have been buying loads of faux flower bits and pieces! I LOVE Christmas season and decorating! 💕 Love your videos....they just keep on inspiring.

Oh I agree on foliage. An arrangement with little or no foliage is by definition ugly to me. They look "disney" fake and shallow. Foliage is like the stage on which the flowers can be the star. Your videos are incredibly helpful. I learned SO much. Thanks for that. and God bless.

What size is the oasis ring?
@FlowerJoos
@FlowerJoos Жыл бұрын
I think this was a 16 inch wreath - but it was a a little while ago now! But you can use whichever size you can source ( and small rings can be made to look bigger and big wreaths smaller by either keeping materials sitting out from the base or bringing them in close ). 🙂
