Can you explain how you positioned the foam in the urn? Did you wedge a piece of foam in the bottom? I didn't see how you taped that in. Thank you

For this video specifically, I just wedged a small piece at the base!

This is fantastic! I've been wanting to learn more about large arrangements ☺ i love all the blue flowers I have questions haha Do you put anything under the foam or do you basically fill the entire vase with it? Have you tried the oasis biodegradable foam? What kinds of problems have you had with biodegradable foam?

Glad you like it! I don't put anything under the foam but I do tape it in place so it doesn't topple over. I sell Oshun pouches and Agra Wool and like them! I have a whole section of eco friendly supplies if you want to check them out: flowermoxie.com/collections/eco-friendly

Great questions! - I used Oasis Midnight Foam which is 100% biodegradable after a year or so. It's not perfect, but it's the best on the market currently. - We sell Oshun Pouches, but I only use that for day of event work, because I think it kills the flowers after 24 hours - We sell AgraWool, which is super eco friendly, but personally, I don't care for it because it breaks apart and it's hard to stab the stems in but, but a lot of florists buy it so maybe I just need some lessons! - I don't fill the vase. I'm kinda cheap and sparingly with it so I just need it to stabilize my anchor pieces. For heavy transport I may add more. I hope that helps! @@FlowerMoxie That definitely helps, thank you! I've only ever used the traditional oasis foam. I didn't realise how harmful it can be to us and the environment. I'm glad they're working on better alternatives! For a diy event, do you think chicken wire is still a feasible option in terms of ease of creating the arrangement and transport? Or does it require a bit more practise and experience?

Why are you not dipping those in alum?

Oh yeah I'm familiar with Fun Dip LOL! I typically only use alum when I'm creating an arrangement without a water source.

So tired of people dissing foam. It's a great tool to use. Chicken wire is just plain stupid. It leads to over stuffing and shifting of the arrangement.

Chicken wire can be tricky to start, as you want to make sure your arrangement crosses a few stems to start with as a solid base. Foam tends to be easier for beginners and Agrawool is a great eco friendly alternative to foam!

@@FlowerMoxie Gee, really? I've been doing this and teaching it since the 1970's, I had no idea. Thousands of weddings, sympathy work and events using everything you can imagine but thank you so much for the info. Even the youngings I know who swear they don't use foam are in the wholesaler buying it for sympathy work and when I suggest making a wreath or cross from chicken wire and using sheet moss they just wrinkle their noses and say it's too much work

Compared to the light blue delph the others look a bit more purple on camera but looked more blue in person! But sometimes mother nature gives us a variety of blues to keep us on our toes!
