Can you apply the Flowified object and then use it as a Boolean?
@NerdLegionInc9 ай бұрын
So I already have conform object and still trying to figure out how to get it to work in certain situations. But my question for this one is does it still work well on filled 3d objects that aren't open like that one. Like for example a space marine arm or something like that, or is that too complex?
@ArtisansofVaul9 ай бұрын
I'm going to do a second video on that sort of situation. So it needs to be just a surface but I just pick the section I want and then copy that as a new object and use that to do it too.

This looks like an amazing addon. Curious - would this work with some interwoven detail on a column capital for example or will it smoosh it down flat to the grid?
@EmilySmirleGURPS9 ай бұрын
If the source has height detail, it might be distorted somewhat, but that dial AoV showed that lets you control thickness is really helpful with that.
@ArtisansofVaul9 ай бұрын
As has been said it should be fine as you have a height option and as long as you've applied the scale.

I’ve bought this addon, but I really don’t know how to use it. Nothing seems to work like in your video. I can make a grid from a quad (not sure if that’s important), but if I try to create a source grid from a plane, that’s all-I don’t see any dots on the edges. I’m guessing I’m missing some important details here. I have to say, this is the first addon that’s really frustrated me.
@ArtisansofVaulАй бұрын
@KonranTaisa Hmm... I didn't have any issues with this when I used it. It just worked. Maybe make sure the plain is subdivided, maybe it had an issue if there is no actual geometry just a single face as that's not what it's designed for.

is there any free alternative to this? im having trouble with wrapping usign modifiers and lattices on more complex mesh shapes, sadly i cant affort this right now and there are not tutorials addressing the kind of work i need to do

What are the benefits of using this over the curve modifier? (I think they pretty much do the same thing?)
@eitantal7269 ай бұрын
no curves here, just 2 meshes. If you referred to surface deform modifier, he addresses that at 1:00

So, why not to use Mesh Materializer, which has no limitations? )
@ArtisansofVaul9 ай бұрын
They work in very different ways but there is definitely some overlap which means in a lot of instances you could use one in place of the other (also depending on your perference). I think Flowify has much nice options for precise placement and sizing, especially of you are going to Flowity multiple elements onto the same mesh. I personally also find it easier to edit (though that is of course based on each person's preferences).
@ComplexTagret9 ай бұрын
@@ArtisansofVaul They work not in very different ways. ) Flowify uses quad plane, Mesh Mat-r uses UV (even no properly unwrapped and that is why it has no limitations of target object). So, you have one more topic to next video: to compare Flowify, Mesh Materializer and Conform Object. )

@@ArtisansofVaul I'm glad to hear that! Mesh Mat-r shows itself greatly on organic complex shapes. Just use UV (even "draft" one) for target object.

Whats the difference to the other addon?
@ArtisansofVaul9 ай бұрын
What other addons do you mean? The ones I mention? I will do videos on those but Conform Object is based more on projection from what I can tell. The UV mapping requires a UV map and getting everything to remain proportional/the correct shape relative to the surface can be harder but it will work on a surface of any shape.
