Flowmaster 920EP Twin Motor Catarmaran from HobbyKing

The Flowmaster twin motor cat running the stock setup except for a change to 5.5mm bullet connectors to connect my batteries. I was accelerating gently because I was on my last set of stock props.

I just ordered mine. What kind of props can I put on it to upgrade the factory ones? This is going to be my first rc boat.

+Edwin Rivera He Ed! I haven't played around with props on this boat yet. Sorry. There is a fairly long thread on the RCgroups forum where guys have tried a few different props. You might want to check out that thread.

+jovan3777 Hi Jovan! I'm running 3S to each motor/ESC. I don't think the stock ESCs can handle more than 3S.

God's Country so what happens when they discontinue it and you may need a new throttle cable? my spartan I have popped one before even taking care of them I just wonder how the cables are made so if there is a discontinued boat would you just use one from another boat I'm not sure lol

These boats are electric so they don't have throttle cables. I think you might be talking about the flex driveshafts. You should be able to find the right diameter from places like Off Shore Electrics or on ebay and then you will need to cut it to length (or get a friend or hobby shop to do it.

Wow so cool that you bought this boat also!!! How do you like it? I have it since a couple of months now. But because of the winter I've only used it once. Now that the spring and summer is coming, I will be using it a lot more. I'm going to carry it in my RC boat bagg (inspird by your design). ;)

+Tomberland Hey Tomberland! The Flowmaster is a cool boat! I've only been able to run it a couple of times so far but I had a blast each time. There is a long thread over on the RCGroups forum on this boat. Lots of good information. You should expect the stock props to break pretty quickly so you might want to be ready with replacements. I'm glad you built a bag!!! It has really increased my enjoyment of RC boating.

God's Country Yes the bag is awesome! The flowmaster is a very cool boat. I bought mine used (second hand), and the props were already upgraded to 3-blade CNC alu props (36mm). The previous owner bought them from the Austrialian website RCboatbitz.biz. Mine runs very good with these props, according to the previous owner about 83km/h. I uploaded a short video of this boat, filmed on the first run. You can see the speed and power this boat has. I'm also going to upgrade my connectors to 5.5mm bullets in the boat. All my batteries already have the bullets :)

+Tomberland Awesome. Sounds like the boat is set up great! I run 5.5 bullets too. I may test a few props but I'm probably just going to set this boat up to be as reliable as possible. Not for all out speed like some of my other boats.

+God's Country Yes me too. I'm not going any larger than 36mm props. Some guys put a couple of 38mm props on the Flowmaster, but I think that will push the standard elektronics to the limit. So I'll also keep it safe :)

+Tomberland It depends on the pitch of the prop though. You could have a larger diameter prop with less pitch that might be easier on the electronics. It's the relationship between pitch and diameter that's important. That's why you hear people talking about "total pitch". That takes into account the blade pitch and the diameter. It's complex and even when you think you have a prop that should run great, sometimes it doesn't! If your setup works well I would stick with it!
