I'm PSU thru and thru. But I never felt Dean won NCAA. I always felt the other guys just lost. He wasn't really quick or really strong and he never had that killer instinct. He just seemed to survive.

He was one of those ones that seemed to love the 1-1 tie match late in the third and then was surprised when he'd lose. He was good, but I was never impressed with him for him being a #1.

Sure, it was close, but he was dogwalking Warner all that season and did it again in the finals. I knew he was going to win that title. Granted, he was a smaller 197. They should've had Brooks go up to 97 and him to 184.

There's just certain #1 ranked guys that look like they will maul anything in front of them (Yianni, Spencer Lee, Gable Steveson, Zane and Nickal to name a few). Max just wasn't in that group for me. It probably didn't help with him being in between two beasts in that lineup.

chael needs to speak on this. he just got finished saying boxing wasn't a real sport because Nganou basically beat Furry. Said top caliber wrestlers couldn't be beaten by some one less experience because wrestling is a real sport based on merit. Ok then Chael.... what gives?

Referring to Nganou vs Fury... He said the same thing could never happen in wrestling because wrestling is a real sport the more experienced competitor will always beat the less experienced one... Now there's been two or three high school wrestlers to take out college champs and I'm pretty sure at least one of them was an active current college champ....

Yes, and no, he seems too nice. Just doesn't have that meanness. No killer instinct. I'm not trying to degrade his accomplishments at all. It just looks like he's there because he was told to be not bc he wanted to be. That'll get him hurt in the UFC.

@@bmaceman6720 I mean, Khabib was a nice guy but a monster when he was in the cage. Some guys have that natural edge to them where they can turn that meanness up. Some just don't. He could go into coaching. I've heard him give talks about wrestling and he could be a very good motivator and coach for some young guys in these bigger wrestling programs.

This is exactly why real wrestlers don't go to 3rd rate schools. Your only options are Iowa, Oklahoma or Penn State. The few from Cornell that won would have won anywhere. Cornell doesn't build wrestlers like the top schools do.
