Editing is great. It would have been nice to have given Jean Terrell her due considering Diana Ross wasn't with the group at the time. Thank you for sharing.

Smokey definitely to The Supremes back to their roots on this track, wish he would have worked with them a bit more!

I wish Mary and Flo had the chance to at least share some of the leads in the early days, like Mary does here with Jean. I really like Mary's vocals here. It always seems to me from what I could remember of the post-Diana years that the group, Mary in particular, was so much more relaxed and gave off a happier vibe, even though they didn't have as many chart toppers. Though we know that could be partly due to marketing, or the lack of it, in this case, by Motown.

As a kid listening to this in 1972, I always imagined Beatniks snapping their fingers inside some dark smoky club while singing along. Cindy Birdsong certainly does seem to be affecting a husky, Beat vibe on her vocals here for sure... same with "Up The Ladder to The Roof" lol! As a black woman, I sure wish we sisters would return to off-the-predicted-style songs like this again... hasn't melisma impressed enough drag queens and broken enough dishes by now?

You're very welcome indeed & thank you once again for the memories! For those of us who travelled the "gamma" of THE SUPREMES this was a special period on which the group could have thrive and go to another level but all Motown's backing (marketing, publicity & distribution) was placed behind the image of Diane Ross who Berry Gordy together (her boss/lover) had plans of their own! The Supremes in 1970's were the "sacrificial lamb" for Diane Ross raise as a "solo act"

Lol.......chosenssh......This are THE SUPREMES (Mary Wilson, Jean Terrell & Cindy Birdsong) Lynda Laurence substituted Cindy in the album cover and on tour but the recording was done by Cindy! There's NO Diane Ross here at all, she doesn't get credit for this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Jean Terrell leads, not Mary Wilson. Actually she and Mary share lead on this one. My favorite!!

I disagree with Craig - I was a young teenager when this came out and the whole sound was very Supremes - with or without Diana - Remember there was no video in those days - In retrospect I'm very glad those "Dreamgirls" finally got the spotlight. Too bad they weren't supported as Diana was. I enjoyed Diana's Supremes era more than her solo career material.

If there is any way you can change banner, I would definitely share it. Great audio!

you know I just saw this and youre editing is great I wish you could tudor me! but how could you possibly think Dianas voice was in there? I think the reason people went off was because this was a time where Mary got to do some leads Finally! niether Mary or Jeans voice sound anything like Dianas
