Mary climbed up the ladder to Heaven. There she reigns “Supreme” among great Motown singers who shared a space for her - such a collection of great singers. They live on through their music that they still share with us.

RIP Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard, along with all the Motown greats like David and Jimmy Ruffin, Levi Stubbs, Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, Junior Walker, and quite a few others. Motown originally tried to mold Jean into a glamour Soul ful Diana Ross sans the wigs Place in the middle or far right or Left She Was the Main Lead and Gave the Supremes a more Soulful image and a few Solid gems like Stoned Love..Everybody's Got the right to love(Forgotten gem, and Up the Latter). Gordy at this time was more focus on Diana solo career so he could give a hoot.Jean was Jean not Diana"she didn't want to be Diana. she had her on voice style was Stubborn wouldn't listen to Gordy who Found her)and more of a Lead singer. Mary became a co lead but didn't feel comfortable being Lead having spent many.years singing Background and told by Gordy "oh Mary you know you cant sing" (Mary said this in her book Dreamgirls)

Love this John. La Ross (the ruination of Motown IMO) long gone and the wonderful Jean Terrell on lead. Her performance on Bill, When Are You Coming Back probably the greatest female vocal Motown ever witnessed.

Your favorite song of all! It's not hard to see why, Jean Terrell sings like an angel and what a magnificent production. Then your extra special treatment. I think I commented a couple years ago how great this extended version is but don't see the comment. Anyway thank you again, Mosogotam! This is one of my top 30 as well. We are so fortunate you make such wonderful music!

Absolutely MAGNIFICENT remix: the wah-wah guitar in this record (Melvin "Wah-Wah" Watson ?), will LIVE with me 'til I leave this planet. The gorgeous accompanying pics, sadly, recall a Lost Era of divine femininity.
