then you really haven't seen him fight then have you. he's not only a defensive wizard, his accuracy on offense was the best in boxing, period. watch him against corley, n'dou, jukko, and who can forget his fight with gatti, that's offense at it's very best.

"The Big Payback" Floyd had some great Tunes playing. Aside from 50 and Akon, he had classics like James Brown and Stevie Wonder.

Yeah. I heard that PBF-Marquez was the best selling fight outside of a non heavy weight fight not involving DLH. PBF sells big because people know they are getting a really good fighter fighting good opponents.

exactly. Floyd would definitely be favored to win, I would expect. However I don't think Floyd would "DESTROY" Manny as people say he would. Let's be honest, Floyd doesn't really "destroy" people. But what IS true is that Floyd has not fought anyone of Manny's caliber in speed, power, or stamina. Judah is probably the closest, but Judah tends to melt down halfway through his fights.

Floyd IS boxing.He is the epitome of the craft. Everyone else out there is a fighter,which isn't bad,but if your really into the fundamentals and your a boxing enthusiast you have to appreciate floyd as the best in a long while.

Mosley's fast and strong no doubt.. If supposing he puts that strength into good use against floyd then his chances might be bigger than I thought.. If mosley keeps the pressure on floyd I believe he'll win, IF HE CAN give a barrage of kickass on floyd all night, that I highly doubt.. Of all of floyd's fights I noticed he does'nt do well being pressured for too long.. consistency of pressure is 1 boxer characteristic that I can only see in pacquiao..

They're both Amazing! Personally, if I had the opportunity to get a training session from one of the other, I think I'd chose Mayweather over Pac. Floyd's plathora of skills is probably just a bit bigger then Pac's. Pac is probably the most fit and most fierce fighter I've seen. I have an opinion on who would win but who cares. Lets just hope that we'll see it happen! It would easily be the fight of the decade.

The scoring was/is simple. Clean effective punching. One guy made the other miss, constantly, and threw and landed a significantly higher amount of clean and effective shots. Not only was it obvious to watch Floyd out box Oscar, all the statistics supported it as well. Anyone who scored that fight for Oscar did so with a blind bias, or ignorance towards how rounds are scored.
@theguy1224
@theguy1224 15 жыл бұрын
Its to simulate fighting on the inside where punches are gonna be short and crisp coming to him. His goal there is not really to hit back, hes hitting the pads to show that he knows where the punches are coming from, almost picking them off. It helps with speed, accuracy and reflex. Thats why floyd is such a great defensive fighter.

@hopelesscasewtf i agree here are some of floyds best combos - one straight right another one is - a single jab Another one of my favorites is -uno, inst, individual, single, lone, singular, one and only, solitary, sole, satu left hook :)

yeh your probs right, but my game invloves lots of uppercuts and hooks on the inside as opposed 2 picking off with jabs which would require height and a reach

It's a routine and it takes time but you'll feel that you've done something at the end of it though because when you spar with someone you will remember those punches you practised and you'll be able to use those combos and punches when you get on the bags you will understand where to punch and stuff like that.

good point, I hadn't even though about how he'd have to adapt the philly/shoulder roll defense. It'll be harder for him to chill on the ropes with a high guard, and open up his body. interesting.

another thing to consider is that floyd is a different fighter when hes in there against a tru southpaw..although he still has great D he's not as fluid and smooth with his counter punching when hes not using the philly shell..he wont be using the shoulder roll..in alot of ways fighting manny pacquio would mirror what floyd did with judah defensively..he'll more than likley be using a high guard an although floyd uses it well he's much better against an orthodox fighter in his philly shell D

You really can't call any boxer a coward, especially any boxer that has fought multiple championship fights. It takes 2 to tango - I haven't seen Manny step up with an offer Floyd can't refuse so it goes both ways.

Forget the charachter, This kid is the most purely skilled boxer since Ali and Leonard, and I would say even more so. I am not biased and I am white. I have seen Floyd fight live 3 times and I have seen Pac twice. Pac is a great fighter, BUT that is the key word "fighter" not BOXER. Floyd has every skill that this sport requires. His mind is still sharp bc the dude hardly gets hit, if he stays focused every minute of every rd, he will outsmart his opponent. Margarito would not of touched Floyd

i can def see how pacquiao can give mayweather some problems..pacquiao is just so active he never seems to run out of gas he's the same fighter in 12th round as he is in the 1st round..he's faster than floyd and as ive said b4 he def appears to have more pop in his shots..mayweather imo is the best in the sport at making mid fight adjustments..he's very adaptable and he's shown and proved that he can beat a guy in 100 different ways..im going with mayweather based on size skill and versatility!

are we all forgetting that welterweight was never mayweathers original wieght..sugar ray fought everyone at that weight because he had to to get a name., and once he made it he fought thomas hearns to unify it if mayweather wanted to do the same he would have had to fight cotto and margarito after bald. mayweather had already cleared out at least two weight classes to even get to welterwieght then he fought, gatti, judah delahoya hatton. when leonard moved up did he fight every middlewieght?

forget the noise it makes, it's the speed that counts. speed generate's power. it also helps him avoid punches and then counter. floyd never his bags or mits very hard cos he's hand brake easily.

@resistnsmoke I agree with the second part of your comment for sure. One shot don't drop champions, especially ones in superb condition. Zab timed him, no doubt..but you gotta admit it did zero damage. Pac Man's ambush/retreat style is an all or none approach that IMO wont work on Floyd but if anyone can pull it off, its definitely Manny.

The fact is, your criticizing is methods,"That's not exactly a good thing. I mean, anyone who's ACTUALLY hitting the pads will look at the pad holder because that is proper technique." As stated in your own words, personally i thought that was a weak statement.

Not saying he had the winning formular at all bro, just saying, it worked the first time. Manny is much cleaner than castillo, all do respect to castillo. I pointed out floyds previous weight to make a point of how they really arnt too far apart as far as sizes. FLoyd just decided to move up firs,t ya know? I like Pacmans resume better than floyd, and think he'd give today's PBF a run for his money. Floyds seems to rely more on his counters and defense nowdays. Would be a good fight, imo.

I'd hesitate to say "whooped", but I am flabergasted by the outpouring of people who seemed to think that fight was close. It was a one sided fight, with Floyd clearly out-slicking and out-boxing Oscar. Oscar fought in brief ineffective flurries and landed next to nothing clean. Floyd made him miss and landed the cleaner more effective shots.

Thank you for speaking the truth, these people dont appreciate what mayweather brings to this sport and hate him soooo much that they look for any fighter that has recent success (pacquiao) and say that he will lose to them. Mayweather is 1 of the greatest and when mayweather beats pacquiao, pacquiao can go back to his country and sell oranges.

Pacman really wasn't on the radar. No one expected him to jump two weight classes to fight Oscar. I think Manny is good...he's gotten better since the first Barrera fight where he surprised a lot of cats. I just think Floyd is to smart and slick of a boxer to loose to Manny.

well floyd and manny are 2 different fighters..i think floyd had hatton figured out long before 10 rounds..floyd is a technician in the ring he picks opponents apart with pin point accuracy..lol manny is a much more destructive fighter by nature he looks to finish fights quickly..manny is willing to open up his offense and throw punches in bunches floyd is very hesitant to do that if he does it at all theres a reason mayweather is undefeated he takes zero risks in the ring he's very saftey 1st

I dunno, at the time Oscar was the champion, and it seemed like Floyd just sat there and let Oscar come to him, which would of been fine if Floyd was the champion, but he wasn't. Also, Oscar was landing shots, they might of been flurries, but they were still shots that were getting to Floyd.

mayweather is one of the greats of all time to me, but to be ranked in the top ten or 20 in most fans' and writer's eyes I think he should fight shane mosley before he has his rematch with ricky..that would clear up everything and he would get paid quite a handsome sum... and yes i said rematch with hatton because hatton is going to beat pacquiao

I totally agree. I dont believe in the tranisitive propoerty in sports, especially in boxing where styles make fights. I think a lot of ppl do it b/c Floyd & JMM have similar styles. Their both technical boxers who rely on defense & counter-punching. If u go back & watch the JMM-Pac fights Pac ate plenty of counter-punches from JMM in both bouts so u can imagine what it would be like vs Floyd who has faster hands, is more accurate, and maybe stronger than JMM.
