Aaaand here's the post-production correction. The Ono Sendai is built on BRAIDS (by Mutable Instruments), which is much more than just an FM engine. Sorry about that!

@ The Temsen device is pretty cool. But the Ono Sendai seems not to be in stock. The company responded to me. So let’s wait 🙂

Hopefully the developer will add a clock divider(internal and external). This would be very helpful to adjust the percussion speed in relation to other gear.

@mr_floydst *gasp* how dare you call us nerds hahaha jk we totally are But I feel like the stigma of being nerdy has changed... like... nerds tend to have more money and more technology amd people are into that now
@mr_floydst2 ай бұрын
@@daneguitarist1 Well yeah, I don't think "nerd" is derogative any more, that was a thing in the 80s. It's more like "a person who is really into something that wouldn't make good smalltalk at a cocktail party" ;-)

@mr_floydst hahahahaha totally! I think the internet allowed everyone to find a niche they love so everyone is kinda nerdy haha

Yo Floyd, another awesome vid. I have spherical sounds "Glitch Storm" Mk2 device, very cool little gizmo. Good to see the company continues to put out new stuff. Hey, what is that little calculator-looking thing on the left??
@mr_floydst2 ай бұрын
I've explained that at 7:45 :-)

おの 仙台 = Ono Sendai I wonder why it's called that. Sounds good! Is there way to do double / half time on the sequence to make it more interesting?
@mr_floydst2 ай бұрын
It's most likely a reference to "Neuromancer", that Sci-Fi novel by William Gibson. In that story, it's a brand of computers. At the moment, there's little control on how the sequence plays out. You can however use an external sync to slow it down. Perhaps send a mail to SSS and ask for that feature.

Nice William Gibson reference!

The RP2040 based microcontroller board is the same as the one on Infinity Digits Zeptocore. It is a pin compatible USB-C variant of the Raspberry Pi Pico that can be ordered from Aliexpress for some ridiculously low price.
@mr_floydst2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes, that's correct. I just want to make sure non-developer viewers understand we don't pay these small developers for the hardware they use in their projects. ;-)
@raphanunu6912Ай бұрын
plus a few components, pots, display and board as well, let's say 20€, so they really sell software. No one is shocked that they use a platform dedicated to free and shared software to offer their update in dfu.... what a strange world !
@mr_floydstАй бұрын
@@raphanunu6912 This is all true. Please remember that "Spherical Sound Society" is a _very_ small company (one man + one emotional support ;-) ) and while the parts are cheap, getting a company to assemble them in small numbers will add to the price. We're not talking big business here.
@bornachАй бұрын
@@mr_floydst Yup. Nice to know they keep BOM costs low but wary of their exposure to counterfeit components on Aliexpress. Most of the price is going to the creators, is a plus. Also worried how a Trump trade war with China might affect small synth businesses. In 2018, Moog warned they'd have to move manufacturing overseas because of tariffs.

Just soldering the Ono Sendai and wonder how the display is meant to mount over the TRS port. There a 4 holes but no parts to use them. As I see in your video you only soldered it on the 4 pins but nothing else.
@mr_floydstАй бұрын
This is correct, the display leans on the clock out jack and that's it.

Excellent content of an interesting thing with some great sounds, but once again, made for people with tiny hands, or just to look pretty on a synthfluencers desk. How you would ever use that in a gigging situation is beyond me.
@dkb2192 ай бұрын
If anyone from Radiohead reads your comment, their next album will be based entirely on this device, probably played with a magic violin bow and in some really weird time signatures that don't even exist yet... and it'll be broadcast live from a space station.

Thanks - this definitely wasn't built for the big stages. I'm certain your feedback won't go unnoticed, though. :-)
