Flubs is very honestly the first non-deterministic combo I've ever seen that I like because I mean "C'mon he's just a silly lil guy, what's the worst that can happen" as a magic card is just so fun.

@@jyrinx I bought into people saying Flubs was a funny joke before release...then played him against my friends and it felt like I was playing a Storm deck with lands. He truly is the silliest little guy.

All the seemingly weird choices in Flubs’s art (his puffy shirt, the bug tugging at his ankle) are all references to the art used for The Fool card in tarot decks, just one more reason to love this goofy card.

EDIT: Because I foolishly tried to share the link to the deck here, KZbin won't let me respond to any of you, so I am going to just note here, that if you look up my username on Archidekt, you can find the decklist. It's the 3rd draft, still a work in progress, but it has the basic skeleton of the idea down already. Flubs is a funny commander, because once you accept the fact that it isn't the best thing you could be doing with whatever list you brew for him, the ways you can go with him is actually quite interesting and fun. Personally, I just chose to go full silly and stuff him in a Slime Against Humanity shell. When you're forced to discard off of his effect, it doesn't hurt quite as much, when the card you discard is a dime a dozen and still contributes to the slime-plan. Another key factor of them is that they synergize even from exile, which is important to the second half of the deck, which is Graveyard recursion and delve. Just innately, as much of my utility in the deck as I can muster has anything like flashback, dredge or retrace to make sure I can use the cards even if I'm forced to discard them. Then just doubling up on value from the slimes in the GY with delving into big spells as well as using cards like Lier to recast them with flashback is crazy good. All of it is incredibly goofy and I can bet that there are better goo-based commanders to use Slime Against Humanity with, but it's fun to just Slime into Flubs topdecking another Slime.

@@nickgertler Looking up my nametag on Arkidekt should find you the list. It's something like the 3rd pass I've had on the idea, but it still needs alot of work to really take off, I feel (Well, as much as "Slimes and Frog" is going to, anyway). There are already some iterations that I'd probably do to the deck. I'd probably look for some utlity off of channel-spells, as they get around Flubs' discard clause, so they're good to play on those awkward 2-card hands. Skyturtle and Shigeki for instance would be excellent inclusions in the deck.

@@nickgertler Should find it with my handle on Archidekt. It's my 3rd or so pass on the idea, but it still needs alot of work. In fact, I can tell you right now that "channel" as something that dodges the rules around Flubs are untapped potential. Namely, Colossal Skyturtle and Shigeki are both excellent recursion effects for the deck that loop nicely into each other.

@@Bluepaccao If you look up my name tag of Archidekt, you should be able to find it on my page. It's the 3rd iteration of the deck, but is nowhere near complete. I've gotten as far as finding the general focus of it, but it's still got alot of work that needs to be done to it. Immediate one that comes to mind is making use of channel as a way to "cast" things without forcing the discard. Shigeki and Colossal Skyturtle in particular are cards I should be looking up room for.

I built a flubs storm deck using some retrace spells so you can keep drawing when you hit a land you can't play, one of the retrace spells, spitting image, let you clone and target on the battlefield

Birgi/Harnfel, especially Harnfel, are gas in this deck. Discard your hand to get double the number of cards in exile to play and each one you do lets you draw a card to either play or discard seeing even more cards!

In paper, Flubs is the commander. The deck contains 97 lands, Flame Jab and Birgi.

@@HCMORGI players hose their own life for fetches, shocks and other fixing. Trying to do 30 damage to each opponent shouldn't be unrealistic imo

Always been a fan of Major Arcana, the Fool being one of the most resonant for me. And the fact Flubs plays well with the otters, the lizard impulse exiles, AND Song of Creation... Yeah. Needless to say I'm pumped to play this frog.

Must the goal be to break every commander we could easily build around a interesting strong theme that's still strong? Flubs the Fool as a madness deck playing off the idea of him being a court fool/jester is the sort of deck building mentality we need in an EDH player base that's gotten waaaaay too skewed towards only playing the most optimized versions of the best legend for any given strategy or mechanic and that's not even talking about cEDH people.

I've cut triomes from all 3 color decks in brawl. You'll never need to fetch it you always get the 3 surveils first and then you don't need the triome anymore. The only situation where I would get it is that for some reason I have like a hand that is fetch + 2 colorless lands. No one wants 4 taplands in a brawl deck, maybe this landdrop deck can play it but it's still not optimal. Notice how in your games you NEVER take the triome

how to make hoof math fast number of creatures X number of creatures then add their power together add these to numbers 5x5=25 1+3+4+5+0=13 13+25=38 much easier then adding 5 to each of your creatures powers and going from there.

20:20 I have a deck that the whole interaction is based around the commander, and it getting one hit on you. If you take it out I lose so no sense in playing the rest. The deck is a memes deck. It just be like that some times. Don't assume maybe?
