The chalice is the tron deck is generally there to be played for 0. It locks out a bunch of your own cards if you play it on 1, so more of a double edged sword.

Gotta remember, it counters both. So when playing Tron if you chalice on 1 you stop a lot of his stuff, but now you also lose access to like 12 cards in your deck. So it'd be fine to do later once you have all the mana you need, but early it could cost you the game.

@@uriarte411 Do y'all realize that the only way 8-Rack can win is by playing 1 Mana Rack effects? There is no way to remove chalice, and no wincon can be played. It is a free win for Tron

I've had a control player draw in response to their Ring trigger. They drew a Tishana which blanked the ring trigger, it was their only out ! then I untapped and bolted them thrice

The fact Thoralf almost won against Domain Zoo as well makes me think that this deck could do very well if modernized. That said Jamin did misplay and didn't copy the rack with the metamorph, but still.

I agree although, I think sideboarding heavily favors most other decks. When your main win conditions are artifacts or enchantments, cards like pick your poison or annul can be brutal

I know a few people pointed out the Metamorph copying The Rack, but after that did Jamin also have enough mana to Sylvan Scrying for the 2nd Boseiju, destroy Mutavault, and reset the board with the Oblivion Stone? Turn after unearth the Cityscape Leveler for the win

i personally think an updated list of 8-rack with cards like grief, orcish bowmaster and such (personally like Vicious Rumors for HP swing, and discard for 1 mana) would be pretty good and would have a way better chance! But even with that kinda "outdated" list it's pretty good and better then expected

The only downside is that it gets destroyed by side boarding. A lot of these lists have the necessary artifact hate to stop bridge and rack in the side.

@@BludMun i know, it's just a card i personally like. In generally i like to play with funky cards, like my favorite card for commander is Rug of Smothering and i even put it in every deck that aims to reduce live totals, no matter how good it is 🤷‍♂️

We use to do exclusively top tier decks of various formats but we found that much fewer people watched those. Every other creator already does it on MTGO so we spice it up a little by playing crowd favourite decks :)

When i really started to play YGO i also played discard (like HEAVY discard).... when i started to play Final Fantasy TCG i ...played discard. Why does the Phyrexian Metamorph trigger the cast effect? does this work with creatures and clones too? i thought only comes into play is getting triggered from clones

The protection is an ETB trigger that only happens if you cast the card from your hand, not a cast trigger.

It's funny how 8-Rack could be a strong Decklist in an artisan version of modern. Decklist 1 Dakmor Salvage 3 Davriel, Rogue Shadowmage 2 Fatal Push 4 Forsaken Miner 2 Geth's Verdict 3 Hopeless Nightmare 4 Inquisition of Kozilek 2 Long Goodbye 4 Mishra's Factory 4 Raven's Crime 4 Shrieking Affliction 4 Smallpox 16 Swamp 4 The Rack 3 Wrench Mind SIDEBOARD: 2 Break the Ice 1 Darkblast 2 Duress 1 Glistening Deluge 2 Malicious Eclipse 2 Mind Rake 3 Relic of Progenitus 1 Sudden Edict 1 Worm Harvest Other cards to consider, Cling to Dust and Whispers of Emrakul. Cling does give you life and card draw in a pinch. Whispers has a mini Hymn to Tourach and a Hymn if you got delirium.
