I don't think you can give a descent review after using the app for four days. Learning a language takes time and if you've read the book the app is more of a substitute to Anki. The app helps you create flashcards faster and it also incorporates the different types of practice cards Gabriel suggests. Being said this, I don't believe this app alone will is the way to learn a language, but if you want to follow the fluent forever method it will save you time.

お茶Ωお茶 Thank you for your comment! You’re right, it’s hard to give a decent review after only four days. I haven’t read the book and I never really thought of it as just an alternative to Anki

@@commoncola I believe it's exactly that. I've tried the method, I don't really think is bad, is just time consuming. Is just that doing a lot of flashcards can be very, very boring.

I've just watched your video while eating some bread and ended up falling on the floor crying of laughter. I'm going to add a photo of this to my Yugoslavian album.

I thought I was at a disadvantage not being able to use their app because they don't offer Lao, the language of Laos. But now I'm glad I can customize my own pictorial lessons and they won't be random. I'm drawing from lists of the most common adjectives, verbs, nouns, (and yes, common phrases!), etc., used in any language. So, yeah, no 'Yugoslavian album' will pop up just to confuse & frustrate me & waste my time contemplating the uselessness of such terms. I only have so much space in my brain to give any given study session, after all, lol!

I was a bit disappointed when I went to the website and selected Korean, Arabic, Mandarin, Hebrew and English and none of those languages are available but listed on the front page.

I liked your review (actually I liked your video editing I think.. ) although like someone else pointed out it would be nice if you used the app longer to give a more in depth review. Maybe using the app more you would get more familiar with its features and better learn how to learn the material first that YOU want to learn first instead of something about an album from Yugoslavia. But then again your first impression that it's put together a bit sloppy might be really accurate. I'm hesitant to try it since it's not really cheap and it seems like downloading a premade deck for Anki would be about the same. And you really can't expect to retain anything in a foreign language after just 4 days. Anything you study for just 4 days is only in your short term memory and will be gone soon if you don't review it again soon.

I do agree that I should've tried it out for longer than 4 days before conducting my review. I found that it was really just paid pre-made Anki decks. The only real unique aspect was the audio trainer. Thank you for your comment!

This video should call "my first impression of the app". So people can understand the app better... the app will begin with pronunciation AND THEN will go to teach you how to comunicate with others in the language. Because you need to understand the pronunciation so you don't sound weird talking the language. Just because you know how to present yourself in a other language with bad pronunciation doesn't mean you are communicating. You are communicating but not clearly.

You do know that you're not supposed to learn the example words in the trainer right? They're just there for you to learn how to hear the sounds. After you've completed that section it starts actually teaching you words. And it starts with nouns like star, sky, river etc. And verbs like run, and swim

Before you learn languages you should first acquire a basic general knowledge, then you will know the minimum required in order not to sound "slow" as it is the case about Yugoslavia.

Great review. But dude. The volume on the audio is ALL over the place. Listening in headphones was PAINFUL several times. A solution to this might be listening through your whole video on stock Apple headphones (the headphones that the plurality of people will be listening on) all the way through and checking for big volume changes. All in all nice video though. The content is great!
