Short review of Fluke Microscaner tester. Nice design, build like a tank. Has decent TDR cable length to open, short tester. It has a good network wiremap. Button has this weird noise. My unit has some issues with the terminator adaptor. Sometimes it doesn't detect pin 8 - but it's old and used a lot. If Kurt electronic KE7100 had active testing I would prefer KE7100 over this tester. But right now this is simply better coz it has active testing capability.

Seriously one of the best demonstrations of this microscanner 2. Can’t decide between this or microscanner poe

well, it depends on - do you have to work with coax cables? if yes choose microscanner 2, if not I would choose microscanner POE. If you have an extra $ Fluke Cable IQ is an excellent choice. It has a faster more reliable TDR. Also, look at my other review of Kurt electronic KE 7100. It has an excellent better than fluke wiremap, very reliable cable testing on offline cable testing with a terminator at the end of the cable. Also, check Kurt Electronic KE 7200. Seams KE 7200 fixed all the flaws of KE 7100 and could be an excellent alternative to fluke microscanner testers.

@@VideoBite I will definitely go check your video out. I don’t do that much coax anymore and when we do we never test it lol. We use fluke dtx at work but when I get side jobs or when I don’t have a dtx it would be nice to have the poe capability and switch port info. That’s much more likely. I wish the microscanner would show how what pairs are crossed rather than just blink pairs that are wrong. Also saving results would be nice. I’ve really been contemplating a link iq instead since you can save results. Trying to spend less than 1000 forsure. Going to watch your video now you recommended. Thanks

@@ForFucksSake57591 Cable IQ has live cable testing, Link IQ is only one shot test. So you can't test RJ45 plugs, cant wiggle cable, and check if RJ45 losing connection. That is my only gripe with Link IQ. As for microscaner wiremap - yea blinking number is not informative - but it works. A few steps better wiremap is on Kurt Electronic K7100 - go check my review. Just Kurt electronic is also one test shot - don't like that. And it has its own issues.

I really appreciate your video, since I am a beginner so I was watching a long video but I don't like to continue watching it until I understand what is TDR and how to use. Thank you I am waiting for OTDR and what's the different

TDR -Time Domain Reflectometry. Complex technology - in our case copper wire length and characteristics measurement. Basically tester with TDR sends a lot of pulse signals true twisted pair, coax cable or electrical cable, starts timer, at the end of cable reflection, signal comes back to tester, timer stopped, signals send and received results compared. From this info tester with TDR can calculate and report some important cable characteristics like: short, open, split, cable length, .. ODTR Optical Time Domain Reflectometer. So it is technology to measure length and find faults for optical cables.

For the price I was hoping it would tell you the PoE voltage having to disconnect the cable to find out the class is a little odd, looks like the Klein Scout pro 3 is a better deal if you mess with coax and PoE frequently.

Fluke Microscanner 2 is very old tester produced in year 2000. Not so good in POE department. All this time pretty much no change. BUT.. It is TDR meter, so it shows - calculated reflected signal - of cable length.. And its more less accurate. Klein Scout Pro 3 measures resistance of twisted pair.. It doesn't have TDR - less accurate and comparable to cheap aliexpress testers.
