Ken Westerfeld Fishing I really like the idea. It helps the viewers follow what you are saying. I may try this in a video if I ever get my stuff together. This move is killing me.

Ken, Would you consider doing a video on how you tie your "patented" hi - low fluke spoon rigs? Was interested to learn that you don't use barrel swivels with your spoons. Do you use split rings? How do you connect the hook to the bottom of the spoon? What lb. test leader do you use and is it mono or fluorocarbon? Thanks Ken. Great video as always and very much appreciated. - Joe

There are several methods that I've seen other people use. Some people employ duo lock snaps. For better or worse I do use split rings and you can use mono or flour. I don't really perceive much line shyness when it comes to fluke hitting these type of rigs. I somehow don't envision the fluke paying attention to the small details when it's the irresistible action of the spoon wobble that attracts them. But yes since you ask, in all honesty I haven't posted a video since January, so in the coming week I'll working on shooting that soon tying video and post it for you.

Thanks Ken , great video as usual . The tips are great keep up the great work i appreciate your time helping us get on fish. Got a question ? For you you mention you really like glow beads and glow such tackle do you catch more fluke with and other species like tog as well with them with more percieved consistency then without . Thanks again .

Good question! I think color preferences can change for fish as their food availability changes. For "some" visual sight hunters like fluke and tog who mainly feed during daylight hours it seems that a target that glows is another visual sight attractor. I don't think that they anything phosphorus in their environment? Maybe squid "seem" like they glow at times but I'm not really certain that they do actually glow. But I think something that is glowing in their environment stands out and catches their eye in my opinion.

Thanks , I often wondered i asked an old salt the same question and he said as you mention . But he also said a little glow like a bead or those stick on glow eyes in water with depth in excess of 60 fow where light transmission is low can help . I notice lots of ice fisherman use them and I myself have used in waters greater than 100 fow on both ice and open water in my jigging for Lakers seem to be the same consistency, I guess like us humans certain things just catch our eye and or instincts.

Sorry for not getting back to you and others sooner. I sort of took some time off from my channel this winter, but Spring will arrive shortly and I'll be back into the swing of things. I use either 3" or 3.5" spoons mainly on my high low rigs depending upon where I got the spoons from. Usually these days it's M3 Tackle, so they have the 3.5" spoons and they work super great!

Hey Ken. How do you rig up the spoons in your homemade top and bottom rig… or did you buy them with the hooks and skirts on already? Thanks!
@kenwesterfeldfishing2244
@kenwesterfeldfishing2244 Жыл бұрын
No I never buy rigs that I don’t tie myself. I buy all components separately and tie rigs the way I want to fish them. I will fish a certain type of rig during certain drift conditions. Slowest drifts then I usually jig buck tails or ball jigs. When drift speeds increase that when I’ll fish spoons or high/low rigs, long leaders, whole squid rigs, or whichever seems right on any given day. Things I alway try to consider what is my drift speed? How much weight do I need to work with due to drift speed? Water clarity? Which bait is predominantly present? Match the hatch with colors, etc,..
