Having used both the T5 and T6 i’d say the only advantage in the T6 for me was the larger backlight display. The field sense is a bit of a gimmick, it doesn’t really work that well so i didn’t use it. The T6 is also larger and more expensive. Save your money and get the T5.

Nice comparison Sparky. That T-6 really looks like a handy meter. Thank you for informative videos.

Ive had a t5-600 for 25 years the lead ism't making a reliable contact any longer and the continuity function has a short. i really liked the on board probe holders and its been very robust. I have gone thru several cheap meters prior to and during owning this. I had to carry a second meter as the t5 couldn't measure the 750 millivolts from a thermopile.

I just ordered the t6 1000 Pro. First thing I noticed after owning the t5 1000 for several years is the sheer size difference of the jaws. Getting them into small spaces which the t5 did brilliantly for measuring current (and my larger clamp meters won't do) will doubtless be a problem especially when the load wire has to be fully inserted to the very base of the jaw before it recognizes it. Next issue I noticed is the fact the touch point on the back has gone on the pro - now you need to use the negative test lead on the meter as a ground reference by securing it to a metal point that's reliably earthed. Yes it comes with a crocodile clip but how that's going to help when you don't always have a close accessible ground to attach it to (or when you're up a ladder) is beyond me. I've never had a clamp meter that needs a meter lead to ground reference to read amps before. This alone is the reason I'm sending it back... Sorry fluke but you screwed up on this one. Yes fieldsense is a nice idea but it should be a option on the dial not a replacement for the normal amp setting. Adding something like inrush and capacitance would also have been a welcome improvement considering how much this t6-1000 pro actually costs over the original t5-1000. Not worth the extra money at all. I'll stick with my t5 until they improve this.

You should've bought the non-pro version of t6 1000. That does have the touch point.

Sparky thanks for all that you do! There was a video where you installed an exterior light using EMT, Leviton light switch and a weather proof box. I believe it was posted about 6-7 years ago. Would you still happen to have this video? Thanks again Sparky!

T6 is just a upgrade of the t5. T5 is good enough. What Im missing is the rotation of engine (lefright) some of the cheapest brands have these funtions.

are you able to test current without having the black lead connected to neutral? or without finger on the pad? the t5 is able to, was just wondering if the t6 can. cheers.

You have to hold your finger on the back of the T6-1000 for the auto read? Yes, I think it is much better and worth the cost.
