@@haruto1973 Ya know what I always thought was a really cool beat that got destroyed? That "I'm still Jenny from the block" beat - originally an underground skate tune until the mainstream appropriated it. Or "Destination Unknown" - originally a popular rave tune. I'm not thinking a trashy, new-school rap, more an old-school, low-key, poetic rap. But yeah, you're right.. on some level rap is a 'lower form' of music so would taint the purity of the perfect aesthetic that is electronic music, although that is the challenge of any musician who attempts to harmonize with computerized music, or beautiful orchestral pieces, on any level - notice only the prettiest voices accompany electronic music for that very reason. It also depends on the lyrical, spiritual and philosophical content, which most lyricists are lacking, which prob concerns you; adding something vapid over the top. But I don't even necessarily mean commercially... imagine we were both hanging out, fucked up right now, and I spat a phat rap over this? It would be sick to freestyle over, which is more of a compliment to track's quality.

This song reminds me of when I was in med school studying Forensic Medicine, and was on my way to my first autopsy with my professor. I remember I was nervous on the DLR listening to this song on repeat, expecting to encounter something strange. When I got to the dissection room, I saw some normal looking deceased, but then a poor guy who was run over a train. I went to change into medical gear, and all I could think was of how it was so empty, so quiet, no ghosts, nothing spooky, just a blanket of silence amidst of non-existence. To this day when I listen to this song, I am always reminded about about the lack of legacy after death.

I'm about to clock in for work and this song channels everything I feel about it. My job sucks but for now I need it. A majority of the crew are some of the most selfish and honestly shallow people I've met. Management is condescending and manipulative. I am miserable here and all that keeps me going is knowing that I can quit soonish. When that isn't enough I grasp for anything to remind me that this isn't forever. When I listen to this song, I envision a music video of a woman running down the street, in the middle of the night. The only illumination comes from street lights on both sides of her. The breaths in the song syncopate with her running. At 1:08 she comes into view of a house, very far off in the distance. As she continues her run towards the house, fluorescent plants and animals, as well as lit up objects start popping up on the sidewalks on each side of her. She does not let these visions deter her from reaching the house, and as she quickens her pace, the house is getting closer and closer. At about 3:12 in the song, she finally reaches the steps, which are polished and wooden, and ascends to reach the porch. The door is made of mahogany and has an outward facing peephole in the shape of a leaf. Vines are covering all the other parts of the house, and there are no windows visible on the house. The door is cracked open, she feels as though she's been here before. At 3:30 she steps inside, and the in the last shot of the video, a smile appears on her face.
