It's great to see you recycling old structures instead of running to Lowe's or Home Depot and buying "all new". That barn was built in mid 1800’s, the log part I think is older than the crib could be back to 1840’s

I cannot believe how easy it was for you guys to get that house down piece by piece. At least this is one part of history that would live on . When I visit my son in Tennesseethere are so many old houses that have been abandoned . It makes me so sad shoe see them torn down part of history where someone lived and farmed and brought up there family . I love watching your family on KZbin I just wish you were on more . So awesome to see an abandoned barn with those 100+ yo logs being re purposed to have a third life at another homestead. The cabin rebuild brought me to this channel & it is satisfying in deep way to see pioneer buildings living again & helping families survive once more. Not as historical artifacts but, as hearth and home right here, right now. Thanks for what y'all doing & for sharing..

Good day ima itching from my head to feet watch him grab ahold of the dang poison oak! Jarred i take a few jugs of water in the woods when i work with dawn dish washin soap and technu. It wont prevent the rash 100% but it does minimize it right much. God bless brother keep up the great work.

There is an "edit" feature, where you can change that from "tragedy" to "strategy". r There should be some kind of button or symbol along the right side of the comment that you can click on to reveal options like "Edit", "Delete", etc.

I believe you think like an engineer I wondered why the bottom logs are more square and upper logs more round

Thank you, Well I found the answer! I found on all of the hewn square logs a marking of numbers on each and looks like the square logs came from another old building before this one was built. And they added the round logs to get more height. If this part was all built in the 1880’s or 90’s those square logs were very old! I’ve traced the family back to that property early as his father there in 1840

If that barn is old enough - it could very well been built with chestnut 🌰 logs. Very, very rot resistance. And the Best food source for Nature and man. The Chestnut Blight literally destroyed Appalachia and mid east states, Economically.
