The prime button on a 360 I briefly had got stuck when moving a tank and i had to take a knife and chizzle around the housing where the primer button got stuck in to free it so I could prime the tank (had no idea what I was doing back then with fish stuff).

Thank you for the review, very informative. I've been out of the hobby for quite a few years and I'm watching these reviews because I'm about to start up a couple of tanks again. I've always had very good experiences with the marineland products, I used to run Magnum 350s on my big tank and they always worked well, kept the water crystal clear and lasted a long time. I still have them, they probably still work but I've noticed the parts are scarce now. because of my previous experience I am definitely a marineland fan I'm heavily leaning towards these 360 filters. I haven't made my final decision yet, but your review has only reinforced my feelings. They make a great product and the price is the kicker($115.00 at petco atm).By the way, I really don't consider more filter media a disadvantage, the more the better. Anyway, thanks for the review. I'm going to check out the other content as well, take care

That is a good question, I was mainly referring to aftermarket mechanical filters. Many mechanical filters are only round 1 inch thick. So to keep the filter stable inside the basket we had to add an additional 2 layers. The problem was it was only the bottom layer that was providing any filtration, the top 2 layers were basically only there to hold the bottom layer in place. We also tried adding the bio media in the same basket as the mechanical filter, it didn't work very well. This also might be a problem with your bio media. Some people have a set amount of Bio media they want to use but they may have to use extra to make sure the baskets are filled up so the water hits it evenly. Its not to big of a deal just something I wanted to point out. However the stock filters do work great.

I have a Marineland 220 and now have the issue of leaks from the o-rings on the part where the valve goes to the filter. Tried replacing the O rings and no luck. Tried looking for the other replacement o rings and replacement parts on the Marineland cover but no luck. From what i have found in several forums, the top leaking from places other than arlund the canister is common and people are complaining that the quality of the newer Marineland canisters are not what they used to be. Have used several Fluvals in the past and they have worked great for me. Also, replacement parts are easier to find for the Fluval than the Marineland. So ended up ordering replacement parts for a 406 rebuild and still came out cheaper than a new Marineland 220. Really wanted to rebuild my 220 because as far as filtering my 40 gallon tank, it's been great up until this leak issue. But parts haven't been easy to find and some parts I can only get through Marineland. Guess it's worth mentioning that at least I got about 4 years out of the Marineland.

Not sure why your knocking the Marineland for its size. More size fits more media. That’s a good thing. I run 4 of them and they are awesome. You can buy 2 of them for the price of the Fluval

Just bought the Marineland 360 for $75 USD on amazon. Getting it today. Now I could not find the Fluval 406 on Amazon. However I did see the 407 which handles 50-100 gallon tanks like the Marineland 360. The drawback to that is that the Fluval 406 cost $199 USD. On Chewy the price is the same Marineland 360 for around @75 USD and the Fluval 406 for $199 USD. On PetCo its Fluval 406 for $227 USD and the Marineland 360 is $209 USD. Petsmart prices is about the same as Petco. So if you are going to use either one of these products....step away from what you see in the stores and go with Marineland, they truly make great products and you can get them a lot cheaper than Fluval. I am not saying that Fluval has poor products but I personally think Marineland has the same quality (maybe better) in their products as Fluval and at a better price.

@@aggoni Yea its been a little bit sense the post lol. My purchase history on a amazon has everything before and after the 360 purchase. But I do not see the 360 in my history. So I am guessing it was removed off amazon or the seller is no longer going through amazon. I still stand by Marineland though...Even if it is $169 right now....sense the time of my previous post I have not had a single issue with the 360...easy to clean and it is still quiet as heck. I did buy a second one just as a backup. The only issue I have had was the one time I forgot to clean the impeller when cleaning the canister. I'm guessing the goop on the impeller had a chance to move to one side when I stopped the filter. When I started the filter back up.... it was vibrating a lot. So yea.... always clean your impeller when cleaning your filters lol.

I run the fluval Fx6 on my 150 gallon turtle tank, it keeps the water perfectly clear and the bottom waste free, but I would also recommend some sort of submersible filter to put at the bottom just to pick up any extra waste

Turtles need a canister flirtation system twice the size of the tank. You need a filter equipped for a 120 gallon tank. This filter is up to 100 gallons. You might want to buy a submersible filter to run alongside this one

Sure that would be a great filter for a 75 gallon, keep in mind that it only does 360 GPH with no filters (completely empty) with the filters it does a lot less than 360 GPH so you might want to add a small powerhead.

@Paul-ol8cb5 жыл бұрын
i didnt have any air problems with mine but i did have something like this happen on my older magnum 350. You can replace the seals, the main seal on the lid would be the most important, then the o-rings. You can also try this, turn off the motor and completely empty your intake hose. Make sure the canister is filled up with water. Then use a shop-vac to suck water through the intake, once the water is flowing close the valve and reconnect everything. This will help jump start the water flow.

You're not quite there Paul but you're really close. First of all Fluval is a difficult word to pronounce, in fact even the representatives on the Fluval KZbin channel pronounce in completely different ways. You're trying to say it like this flu- (like being sick) -V- AL ( like the name Al as in Al's Toy Barn) the problem is when you say fluv-AL really fast it can sound like flu-vile. In fact I said fluvile to 2 different talk-to-text programs and they both spelled it as Fluval. Here is a link to one of their representatives saying it. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZzTeamNobpsj80

@@sasmith8944 Totally disagree. I am running a 307 and a 207. I have had the 207 for 7 months and no problem. the 307 is brand new. You must lube the rubber ring every time you clean your filter and this should take care of the problem . You should replace this about once a year and it only costs a few bucks. As I said I had two marineland's and they both leaked after a couple of months. I have been at this hoppy for almost fifty years and their quality in many of their products have gone downhill. If you have good luck great and enjoy.
