What a nice tank set up for your betta. Thanks for sharing how you moved him to his new tank! We luv betta's too and we have to do the same thing soon; moving to a new tank. Currently have 4 males; 2 in their own 10 gallon tank and 2 in their own 5.5 gallon tank. Upgrading our 2 males in the 5.5 gallon tank to their own 10 gallons soon; don't want our betta's to have tank envy ;) just to be clear, we have only one male betta per tank, incase that was confusing to anyone

I got this tank and thanks for your video. I’m having problems with noise of the pump. It’s making the lid of my tank vibrate and the pump is loud in running. I made sure pump wasn’t touching the tank and I put a sponge under the pump. Is your pump loud? If so can you recommend a quiet pump for this tank?
@AquatikGuru Жыл бұрын
I have not had any issues with my pump since purchasing the tanks. Typically a dirty propeller and clogged internal sponge will cause this issue. I highly recommend removing the pump, disassembling and cleaning it thoroughly and see if your noise is still there. Regardless if it’s new or old

Nice video fella. I'll let you in to a little secret where the water comes in before it goes through the sponge filter I've put an air stone along with moving bed Media (k1 standard size) it's world a treat for me. All the best mate 🇬🇧✌️

After you started the new tank I didn’t see you condition the water let alone put heater in to warm the water right from a hose. Esp for betta’s that requires warm water…? Was this something you did immediately after the video?
@AquatikGuru5 ай бұрын
What I actually do is I measure my tank water and equalize it at the hose. Hopefully 2-5 degrees cooler to enact a rain fall.
@AquatikGuru5 ай бұрын
As far as conditioner I added it directly in the tank. Must have clipped that section out by accident

New to the hobby. Why did you add the extra bio media? What was just benefit? For the good bacteria from the other tank?
@AquatikGuru3 жыл бұрын
Exactly! It’s an added benefit of having more media. Plus the media is already cycled with bacteria’s so it’s also a great way to instantly kickstart a new tank by using old filtration/media.

When it comes to maintenance on fluval stratum do you gravel vac normally like you do with gravel or you don’t ? How do you clean it
@AquatikGuru3 жыл бұрын
Yes I do gravel vac it. Only I use a small syphon or I slightly pinch the hose so I don’t suck up the stratum, just the dust from it and waste

does algae develop back on the filter chambers walls? is it hard to clean algae on those chambers walls for monthly maintenance? Thanks for any answers
@AquatikGuru3 жыл бұрын
Great question! I can’t tell if it’s algae for sure as it stays dark back there. But some mulm definitely builds up. Start with bottle cleaning brushes that I buy from Amazon in the first chamber. Then I syphon out all the stuff that settles. Then I clean the sponge. The filter/heater side doesn’t seem to get any buildup in it. I assume anything that gets in there just gets sucked up and spit out the spray bar. Then I syphon the rest of my water change as I clean the tank.

So the charcoal not good for live plants? What is its purpose?
@AquatikGuru3 жыл бұрын
Charcoal aka carbon is there to pull out unnecessary minerals. In a tank with live plants, the carbon will suck out the fertilizer added to feed the plants. The same applies to medications. Always pull your carbon prior to medicating fish as the carbon will just suck it all out of the water column

Is the wire from the filter supposed to be exposed to the water? If so let me know that it should be in the water. If not please inform me how else you should do it!

Of course it’s supposed to be exposed to the water. How else would you put the pump at the bottom of the chamber.

That’s a great question and I would assume yes you could do that. But being I haven’t tried I cannot guarantee it. What I do is it’s off all day while I’m at work. After I get home I turn it on then turn it off before bed
@isabellerue51144 жыл бұрын
Have the same aquarium at home, it holds temperature really well so your betta will be very happy. Just wondering if you'll be using an air pump with your new setup? Haven't installed one yet in mine as all the LFS are sold out of the one I'm trying to purchase plus the postal system is a nightmare right now ^^'.
@AquatikGuru4 жыл бұрын
Isabelle Rue I haven’t decided if I will add air or not yet. Most likely I will eventually just for some extra. But I plan on adding a lot of plants as well to make up for the oxygen levels. And I’m confident the flow is sufficient. I just aimed one of the output nozzles towards to surface to give the surface alone more turbulence for oxygen exchange while the other circulates the lower portion of the tank

Do you find the pump to be too powerful for the betta?
@AquatikGuru3 жыл бұрын
No actually. With the plakat style bettas, they don’t seem to be bothered by it at all. I could see how a long fin style would have issue tho. I have a buddy who 3D prints low flow spray bars for these tanks as well as a bunch of other mods/accessories as well such as lid props to hold the lid up while you clean etc.
