I cut my teeth learning to fly fish for smallies in the James River, VA. Smallies are soooo fun on fly gear - the takes, the fights, the leaps. They'll take Streamers or dead drifted bugs. Perfect match fly fishing. Then I moved back to NY and learned to fly fish for trout, salmon, and steelhead. I'll take smallies on the fly all day over the aforementioned species.

Great watching this. Reminded me of the only fly fishing trip I have done in the US which was a guided float trip for smallmouth on a river 2 hours from Chicago. Was such a great day on the river. Caught heaps of fish and such a lovely river. As you said we drove through farmland to get to it but once we were on the river it was stunning. Great video, love you content.

As is tradition, y'all have done it again - a great video that is light years ahead of what most content producers are putting out. I will ask, however, that maybe you guys consider making the smallmouth videos only available by subscription or something. If people continue seeing how awesome this species and the other non-trout species are to catch on a fly, our small creeks and streams are going to start looking like one of those streams out west during a hatch. LOL
@jogger19873 жыл бұрын
I live out west in Colorado. Last year during the Covid-19 summer, while kayaking the Arkansas River I counted on a 7 mile paddle 157 fly fisherman. While it was cool to see my local area flourish economy wise due to fishing, it was also like holy shit, 157 people fishing my local area.
@russcassady44693 жыл бұрын
@@jogger1987 Wow. I'm with ya. I love seeing the local economic impact but, dang, I can't even imagine the impact on the fishery.

Great vid! I was curious how do you end up doing sound specifically capturing talking? Do you just wire up 3 of you? Combination of lav +closest camera? I love how well you all narrate the video "live from the field". I always end up doing it in post edit and it never sounds as in the moment as the way you all do it.
@alexhoskinson42533 жыл бұрын
I can relate with people thinking fly fishing is only for trout. I’ve been on the stream and had people say, “There’s trout in there?” I’ve definitely logged more hours on bass than trout.
