Great series. I live in Saskatchewan. Great fishing, yes but no small mouth. I caught one small mouth when I was in Ontario on Lake of the Woods. That is one of my favourite memories. Nothing fights like a small mouth.

That opening is spot on in other places too, thanks to uncle Sam I spent a lot of time in the gulf coast region (TX, LA, AL, GA) and found a very deep passion for bass fishing, which upon coming back out west was looked at dubiously if I were to be generous about it, it all started with spinners and baitcasters, but it wasn't long until I was tossing a woolly bugger and landed like a 9in bass instead of a trout, and the light flipped on, it's been a wild ride since and the doubters and naysayers are just missing out, their loss LOL!

How do you guys do floats far from home? I want to go to a river 6 hours away with some friends and I’m not interested in bringing two cars.

Find out if the river has a shuttle service. If it's near any sort of town it should have a shuttle service. Call fly shops/fishing stores in the area to get some intel. Usually a shuttle isn't more than $20-30. Or if you're like Adam, go buy a mini motorcycle. Hope that helps!
