I won’t fish any other rod on my small rivers/streams besides my eurorod. It’s an absolute game changer as I get better drifts and for some reason I don’t get caught in the trees as much. Great video!

I fished the same setup on the Henry's Fork last week and got SLAMMED on the chubby!!! My first time trying that and it was AMAZING!!! First brown chomped the chubby and shot down stream taking me to my backing...HUGE brown, but broke off. The control you can have with the dry fly placement and so much less drag on the water...can't wait to try it again.

Funny you post this today. I myself was tightlining today and our local river in the North East is actually running high from the rains so I explored a small side channel that looked fishy in high water. The current was just a bit too slow to tightline so I made the switch to dry-dropper with the tightline set up and caught 5 brookies and a rainbow. You guys did another video on it before and I always think of that when I am out fishing. Thanks!

I’m trying to figure out the secret recipe for dry dropper setups currently. It seems like if I’m not using a foam fly my fly gets sucked under a lot. Is there anything you recommend doing for using a fly like an elk hair caddis with a dropper that will help me keep the caddis afloat?
@martinhodell84653 жыл бұрын
I'm no expert- but a) foam flies b) elk hair caddis (with the palmered hackle) c) something with lots of CDC like the corn-fed caddis d) something with a synthetic wing (EP fibers etc) that you treat with floatant- could be big bug or even a smaller stonefly (#12 or #14). I also have problems with dries sinking when using daintier dries like parachute adams
@FlyFishFood3 жыл бұрын
There is a fine balance of finding a fly big enough to float a tungsten nymph. If it’s getting pulled under you just need to find a bigger dry or a smaller nymph
@fenrirunshackled43193 жыл бұрын
Are you using any floatant? Using a floatant like gink will help a lot. Just put a little bit on your fly and massage it in for a second. I've had good luck flotating pretty big tungsten flies under ECs and parachute adams, albeit in fairly calm water
@carlparisi97493 жыл бұрын
@@fenrirunshackled4319 yeah I use gink and it works fine most times. I might be over complicating it but I think my dad has better luck with flyagra.

Out of curiosity- what was leader for this set up? If different from your typical euro rig, how so (less sighter? stiffer sighter? to aid with leader turnover?)
@Lanceeganflyfishing3 жыл бұрын
Micro leader. All .007” from the euro line down to the sighter. Turnover is helped by fishing a tungsten nymph on the terminal end of the tippet.

Great video guys!! Lance your super human!!!! I learn a lot from your videos tying in fishing! Question what rod do you use for your euro? And what is your leader set up? I’ve tried dry dropper in with my euro rig does not cast as well as my traditional fly rod so I don’t love the feel so I’m looking for maybe a different leader set up and maybe a different rod set up. Thanks

looks like a t&t contact ii rod with a micro thin euro leader (i spy 6lb green amnesia on the butt section in one of the shots). there's another video talking about micro thin leaders that goes into detail on rigging and leader recipes

How long was your line from the dry to the dropper?
@Lanceeganflyfishing3 жыл бұрын
Tippet from dry to dropper varies depending on depth but generally in the 24-30” range.
@dols943 жыл бұрын
@@Lanceeganflyfishing thanks for the reply. How close do you want the fly to the bottom generally?
@Lanceeganflyfishing3 жыл бұрын
As close as possible but it isn’t worth changing tippet lengths all day in every single place so I’d suggest setting it based on average fishing depth and then adjusting drift lengths to compensate.

@@Lanceeganflyfishing thanks Lance.
@willdykema3 жыл бұрын
@@dols94 good rule of thumb, if you dont get snagged every once in a while youre not deep enough. the ideal thing is to see your dry ticking some/all of the time where it sort of vibrates as the nymph bounces off of rocks. also it depends on the speed of the water on the surface but good idea is to take the depth your fishing and tying somewhere from 1 to 1 and 1/2 times the length in tippet.

I'm sorry, but I'm sort of displeased by the way some of the fish caught were handled. Otherwise interesting video.
@FlyFishFood3 жыл бұрын
We knew this was coming. Water was very cold and the fish were landed very very quickly in order to give them the best chance of survival. Quickly landing them like that is much better for them than fighting them to exhaustion.
@Lanceeganflyfishing3 жыл бұрын
Fly Rider, you’re displeased that we didn’t handle all of them? Your logic is flawed. Fighting them quickly and releasing the fish without handling them is better for the fish. Simply because it’s not what you’re used to seeing doesn’t make it wrong. Happy angling however you choose to (legally) do it.
