That was thoughtful of the designers to put a lead acid battery next to the pilots head in a sealed cockpit. Beautiful detail in there boss. Looks great.

Kudos for doing this aircraft - remember my dad telling me about the German jets as a thunderbolt pilot - also great kit for showcasing so many different techiques, excellent work

Your ability to real time narrate something that is so difficult and frustrating is pretty awesome. I go to the limit of my patience just not screwing up my builds too badly. I thought about trying to film some of it but i dont think i could handle one more thing to worry about. Nice, clean work. You make very convincing models.

Good video! Just a quick tip if needed. You can pick up a “silicone brush” at an art supply store that works great for smoothing putty and epoxy fillers. Works with water or solvents if needed.

Thanks! I have a set of them and they’re really good for smoothing out and shaping (I think I used them in a video a while back). I’ve found that a wet cotton swab is better at removing material and since I was going to do the final work with mr surfacer, I didn’t bother with them. Good tip though.

The pit looks amazing, great job. Pretty honored that you quoted my comment in the video, had a good laugh and watched it a couple of times😂. So I guess I better practice 10 years instead of the 5 haha

Loving this build......🤙.......If it helps I used to use ‘Q-tips’ for smoothing, then I discovered silicone brushes (not strictly a brush, more like a soft eraser type compound shaped like the head of a brush), which come in different sizes and hardnesses (is that a word?) they also have shaped heads too (pointed, bladed, round, curved, flat etc) eBay & Amazon do them dirt cheap in packs...they are absolutely brilliant for moulding putty etc and glue etc just peels off the heads when it dries....

So, yes "Captain Hairdo" we can tell it's early. I have heard from many other modelers that FLY kits will make you fly away from the hobby. But Trumpeter can make you creat new cuss words also. Mr. Cement is MUCH easier on the braincells am or pm. That area is an access panel for the engine mount. The round circles just behind the pit are for the fuel system & fuel pump access 1 larger circle for the main fuel access, then 5 smaller circles for the fuel pumps. Then 1 larger circle for the depressed D/F antenna., just before the upper fuse to wing mount and RDF antenna loop. {If you want to be a rivet counter} No forward leading edge flaps on the AR. Unlike the 262. Looks good! The owner should be happy

You’re welcome Ed. It does however I’ve only ever used it to fill in gaps or on rough surfaces. Might rough up the area first if you were to use it on a flat smooth surface

You can try Milliput Epoxy Putty i think from what i see its eazier to handle have a lot of types.Why you allways use ca mettalic filler and not just tamiya putty or something similar?i am asking because ca its more complicate to sand it than the other putty's
@seanerk5kt9
@seanerk5kt9 3 жыл бұрын
I’ve got some milliput but I don’t see much if any difference to the magic sculpt except for the price. I prefer ca and metallic pigment because it’s easier to control where it goes and not only fills joints, but strengthens them. Traditional putty doesn’t add any extra strength and since I ship most my models, I need that extra strength.

I dislike working with Resin & CA glue. Or Photo etch with CA glue. ABS plastic is a trying type of material also. At least you are at a level to where you feel you can handle these commission jobs. Love that brass template you got. Have you been using the Plastic putties that have just come out? I am having excellent results filling seams & gaps with those products. Would definitely love to hear your professional opinions & outlooks about using them. Cracking maybe? Because you have to ship? I get the epoxy, I love using that also.

I’ve got some vallejo plastic putty that I use in limited circumstances but I’m not aware of any new ones. The vallejo stuff I use is too soft in my opinion to re-scribe over even if it’s covered by a layer of primer like I’ve done in this video. Also, I need the extra strength that the ca provides with joints because of shipping hazards.

@@seanerk5kt9 Exactly why I asked. I guess there is only one other brand of plastic putty I know of as two types are both Vallejo but in different containers. The other is by Deluxe Materials But, it doesn't say 100% acrylic resin like Vallejo. My modeling acquired knowledge is super low compared to your skill & experience. I was just curious on your take. I used 2 part epoxy all the time but, am amazed at the ease of plastic putty which I have used for bad fitting gaps. Thanks for answering.
