Bream killer, my absolute favorite fly
@TheFlymanJim3 жыл бұрын
This is a good fly for that. I have caught so many on a single fly that it will eventually fall apart. That's what I would call a good day of fishing.

Jim, I used this pattern in red and pink for a stocked pond and caught a lot of crappie

this is a great video I tied one with camo chennile and white rubber legs caught a lot of bluegill and a big bass
@TheFlymanJim10 жыл бұрын
Hi Lori, That's great to hear, there is something about the rubber legs that drives those gills crazy. I've had all the chenille removed from the fly and was still catching them with just the rubber legs.

Nice fly! How deep will the lead wrap let the fly sink? Also, on one of your other posts, you used a multi strain thread. I can't recall the fly U tied using this thread. Really enjoy your site. Been a great help.
@TheFlymanJim10 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, the lead will take this fly all the way to the bottom, that is depending on the length of your tippet and whether or not your using a sinking fly line. It take the fly down at a slow to medium pace. I usually twitch it along the way which brings it towards the surface every time.

can i tie this on a size 12 dry fly hook?
@TheFlymanJim8 жыл бұрын
+Dylan Williams hi Dylan you can tie this on a dry fly hook. If you want it to float try tying in a hackle like the Griffith's Gnat. That is sure to take the bluegill anywhere you fish it.
@dylanwilliams45568 жыл бұрын
Can i still tie it on s dry fly hook even though i don't want it to float

where do you get the wire?
@TheFlymanJim8 жыл бұрын
Bryson you can get the lead wire or lead free wire at just about any fly tying supplier. Check your local regulations on the use of lead, some places forbid the use of lead, hence lead free.

Almost everything in fly tying is a by-product of another industry. The trick is to learn what these are and bypass the middleman.
