Welcome back Mindy and Kevin! We’ve been missing you!! It’s been said that you are known by the company you keep. Paul is one of the nicest people I’ve met so, if he is a good friend and a father figure, then that confirms what I already think of you and Kevin. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. They are inspiring! Looking forward to your next video.

Thanks for taking us along!!! Enjoyed seeing the broker view as I am almost in the market for a new plane. (I value photos so I was happy to see what you shot!) When you mentioned the “several heat advisories” I had to look at your notes to see when your flight was. I used to live in Florida, but I’m in Colorado now. Went back to Florida to pick up a new to me plane in August. My wife laughed at me and my instructor as we came back from proficiency training dripping in sweat. (She was in an air-conditioned office and the hangar and came out only for photo ops.) I flew out on a Saturday, so maybe just missed hearing you on Daytona flight following by one day. 😉 I agree with Kevin’s, “We’re not in the south, we’re in Florida.“ Too true. 😆

Mindy, would you be able to create a video on how you became an aircraft broker please? Any tips and advice for those of us just starting on that road?
@irishcurse656 ай бұрын
The best way to get flight following is cold call with call sign only. Then when they reply you give all the info. This prevents giving the same info 2 or 3 times. My plane is under the Charlie and I always get flight following. I find this to be the most efficient. My Charlie is busy and when you first call in with a bunch of info they usually aren't ready for it.
@klindy_076 ай бұрын
Best advice is figure out local knowledge how you have. A good rule of thumb give everything on the first call with clearance and approach. Just give tail number with center. The FAA uses two different pieces of equipment for Tracon and approach so how you input flight following differs depending on facility’s.

Nice seeing you again! 3:00 "short delay" is just "I'm going to sit on the runway for a minute before taking off". Seems to be popular with some schools. Could be short field but I've seen it as standard practice at a big delta for every takeoff. 3:40 "fog off the prop", wow 9:00 11:25 14:30 "thanks pete" haha

I hope other pilots noticed Kevin speaking slowly and clearly to try to convey the information for FF. So many seem to try to speak as quickly as possible. Good tip by Mindy on manually trimming before engaging the AP. I fly behind an Aerocruz100 and it’s so hard to make trim-happy. Will try your tip next time I fly.

Photo tips: Take exterior when the sun is less than 30 degrees from the horizon. The closer to sunset or sunrise the better. You can get a 24 or 28-mm lens for the interior. Then straighten the lines with Photoshop, and paste the images of avionics screens from stock photos. For exterior photos open the lens as much as possible to have a shallow depth of field so the subject pops. Have a hanger or something interesting in the background that is out of focus so the plane pops. It also helps make it look 3d and not a flat photo. Interior the opposite. Have a very small aperture to get big depth of field. Take test photos of your plane and put it on an open runway. Next to a hanger. What angels really work? Look for what works and doesn't. Build a formula that works. I am in real estate. I hire a great photographer. It makes all the difference. Plane photos I see listed really suck. You can make a good nitch of just being better.

With my VFR flight followings, I always start it with “x approach, Nxxxx, VFR request.” And usually they just say “Nxxxx, x approach, go ahead with VFR request.” Then I just follow it with “Nxxxx is type C172, xx miles north of xxxx field, x thousand x hundred, looking for VFR flight following to xxxx at x thousand.” Depending on the controller, they may catch it all or may ask questions. However, when it seems when I get past the “cold calling confusion” with simply my call sign & saying “VFR request” it gives them the chance to switch gears & prepare for the information I’m dropping. Everyone does it differently. I just hate cold calling controllers with immediately dropping a ton of information. The general “VFR request” note helps them prepare essentially.

I just love a shiny polished aluminum aircraft. That is a gorgeous 182! One question though, do you always use 10° flaps for take off? I watched your delivery video and you did the same. Is it a DA thing? I own a 182E and hardly ever use flaps on takeoff

fun video. On the hand fly. i do it always to cruise just to get an opportunity to hand and FEEL the plane. Rigging etc Sometimes that is to 8000 or up to FL280. Then autopilot takes over. Some pilots have lost the art of hand flying, too focused on the technology.

Hi Mindy. It's good to see you back on the channel. I enjoyed watching you put together the brokerage package. But I do have a question: Have you considered doing videos of the aircraft in addition to photos? It might be just as impactful for the sales presentation, especially since you have experience creating videos on KZbin. Just a thought. Love your channel!!! 🥰
@Schmiiindy6 ай бұрын
I’ve considered! But I haven’t seen the effort pay off in aircraft sales. A few other brokers do it, and some even do it well (lol), and their listings are for sale just as long as traditional photo listings. So, it would be fun and entertaining but I think that’s about the only real reward with videoing listings. Maybe I’ll try one day though!
