Great video! Quick note: when removing the gust lock, you click it once to place it in your "hand" and then you have to click once more at a spot at the cockpit wall to put it away. They describe it in the manual: "If you do not stow the gust lock it will remain "in hand". This allows you to insert it by accident and jam your controls. This was done on purpose [...]"

I have been looking forward to this plane for a very long time and was a little disappointed with the amount of none functional equipment, the same way I was disappointed with the lack of functionality with the EFIS on the Black Square TBM-850 (hopefully they introduce that functionality). Even the Carenado PC-12 shows the flight plan, map symbols and TCAS on it's EFIS. On the SWS version you're given just a very basic stripped down version of what in real life is quite a complex avionics package. Hopefully SWS improves upon this release as they've already implemented the buttons and breakers for them. Btw, thank you for another fantastic video! :)
@hostettervideos11 ай бұрын
the reason for that is because everything we make is from scratch. all graphics and everything. everything will be functional, part of it was a late discovery of the very lacking system depth of MSFS default AP. so we decided to make our own. a majority of the systems work compared to carenados. so what you speak is very small compared to what the plane actually delivers
@JockoFlocko11 ай бұрын
@@hostettervideos I really do enjoy the aircraft, it's flight model is spectacular, especially in terms of climb rate and how it reacts in a crosswind. How can you say this aircraft is controllable? I’m a real world pilot with 1800 hours, been in aviation for 23 years and although I’ve never flown the PC12 in real life, I cannot imagine that the real aircraft flies like this one. At low airspeeds the aircraft yaws horrendously. I’ve never known any aircraft to handle like that. Even in this video on your landing you were yawing to the right like you had a stiff right crosswind, but the wind sock indicated about 5kts from your left yet you said nothing about it? There comes a time when you have to be honest and not let your love for a certain developer cloud your judgement. You know this aircraft is broken.
@eavesdropping-withandrewhe44235 ай бұрын
Flew the PC-12 for two years. The handling characteristics at low speeds don’t differ too much other than slow sluggish controls. Definitely no large yaw moments 😊

As others have mentioned. I too wanted to love this aircraft. Simworks can say what they want, but this plane handles terribly in the sim. They want to say that you arent a good pilot if you have issues, which may be why some youtube channel creators are blatantly ignoring the issues, which are present even in this landing.

Good thing you mentioned the rotation speed at 80kts^^ First flights I rotated at 85-90 kts and the plane started to yaw to the right extremely 😂 Probably because of the trim setting. The approach and landing characteristics do confuse me though, tried multiple landings today and the fact that the nose is always going to one side when landing puts me off, I don't want to land sideways 😅 Do you use the rudder much on approach ? I'm always kicking the ball but maybe that's the wrong thing to do I don't know 😬

5:28 I want to address the comment about GA checklists written to be “read and do” while airliners are flow and check. My opinion only: That may be true, but if you’re currently a sim pilot who hasn’t begun flight training yet, I’d suggest getting in the habit of flow and check. I’m a GA pilot, I’ve never flown commercially but that’s how I was taught by a former airline pilot and I think it makes more sense and is much safer. I’ve only had 2 instructors and both did it this way. If you’re flying IFR, you don’t want your head down reading a checklist while you’re busy with other things. And if you’re VFR you should be looking out the windows and ensuring proper separation with other aircraft. I prefer get everything done early and then flashing the checklist up high quickly to verify you didn’t forget anything. On the ground, I guess it doesn’t matter, but I find it more simple to learn just one methodology. Just my opinion, as a low time GA putz

Its really amazing how long the issue list is with this aircraft after SWS hyping in up for a YEAR. Took many months longer than they had anticipated, and kept announcing, and last minute they cut failures, then kept telling us the plane would not be released until it was perfect. So why do systems in the plane not all work, why are there flight model issues? They keep blaming everyone else for every “problem”, yet not every aircraft in the sim exhibit some of these issues.
@A330Driver11 ай бұрын
I don't agree with your statement at all, naturally any first release will have bugs, but likewise I don't feel it's many of them. Lots of stuff is pilot induced with this plane due to mishandling. When I go over their discord and the problems customers describe the majority can be put down to mishandling. For instance many don't seem to have an eye on their rudder trim on landing, which in turn makes them break out on landing. Or likewise many climb much to quick and then end up exceeding maximum differential pressure because they don't keep an eye on their cabin rate of climb. Those things are not bugs though, they happen because the PC-12 needs quite some special attention from the pilot and people don't read manuals. Sure enough the manual could be imrpoved a bit, that was a suggestion of mine as well. And sure enough there are bugs that need sorting, like the oscillations with V/S mode. But I can't share your feelings that "it's really amazing how long the issue list is". It's no worse than other similar releases.
@jay-rus443711 ай бұрын
@@A330Driver … can appreciate your opinion and input. Hopefully we will see ongoing improvements either way. Im about 1/3 way through the manual, so will see what the remaining has to share. @hostettervideos11 ай бұрын
comparatively this plane is a complete success with how realistic it is. and honestly when it comes to bugs theres only maybe a handful. which is pretty good id say given it was released a day after SU14. which broke some stuff naturally. and sometimes things are out of our control, asobo isnt the most dev friendly company. something they greatly need to work on. for people to say this was a failure or a bad aircraft is because they need to spend more time and actually learn how to fly the aircraft. since they wanna simulate our lives they need to put in the work. @@A330Driver
