No, you need to pull from below the axis of rotation. Your pull point needs to be below the axle and that will force the front end down.

Actually, the guy on the orange mower needs to stop leaning back looking at the chain or whatever. That puts most of his weight behind the rear wheels rather than over them, which is exactly why the front was lifting up.

I like the theory. You should test it by pulling some small tree stumps using a chain connected to the hitch of an old tractor with the hitch connection being far below the axis of rotation. Then get back with us and tell us what you have learned.

You have a light lawn tractor versus a heavy garden tractor here, obviously the Deere has the advantage. You'd need a lot of weight on the Allis Chalmers to compete. Owning a John Deere 210 and 316 myself, I can say that they are VERY heavy garden tractors.

+MichaelTJD60 Plus the chain was attached below the centre of the rear wheels on the John Dear where as above the centre on that other one. Any tractor will flip over backwards if the attachment point if above the rear wheel centre and the tires grip....

One time I purchased a 1976 Allis Chalmers 808 GT from someone for a 130 dollars. It ran but, needed carb work and some other kind of engine work. Backfired upon every startup or shutdown. I eventually sold it to an antique mower collector and made a little profit on it. I got 200 out it.

to stop the mowers from flipping you need to run the rope under the rear axle and hook it up to the front of the mower.. to pull the front downwards
