DJI Spark Battery Mod *a how to guide*

Awesome, just make sure to not make it carry too much weight (too high current flow to the motors from the ESCs) by not using a very large extra battery, and don't connect them together unless the voltage is about the same for both batteries. To be sure, fully charge both batteries separately, then connect them. Also make sure that the extra battery has the same number of cells as the original battery. I don't know the cell count for the Spark batteries, but it should be stated on the sticker (1S=3.7V, 2S=7.4V, 3S=11,1V, 4S=14,V Nominal)

I can’t believe nobody has said this yet, but DO NOT connect a fully charged pack directly in parallel with a discharged pack like this! You are extremely likely to damage the pack, but could start a fire too! It will push hundreds of amps through that connector. Good instruction for setting up the battery for charging with a hobby charger though.

Both pack were fully charged. The flight pack simply didn’t charge up to full 4.2 per cell... he used the big pack to boost up the flight pack right before takeoff. It’s harmless.

From what I can see you did not remove the dji battery but added a cable plus adapter to add another battery... Surely this adds to the flight weight meaning you're not actually getting extra flight time because the spark has more weight to lift?

The only problem I see with this is that the internal battery should match the same Mah than the external one. In theory, the miss-match will make the less mah battery drain first and will have a drop-down from 3.2 killing the cells unless somehow you can balance one to each other.

The main will always drain faster, less resistance. Finding the right external to match the draw rate of the main in flight is the tricky part, that said I’m always destroying batteries.

Thank you very much indeed for this video!!! Now I see that it's real to increase the Spark's flight time. But I have one question: what about the battery controller? How the controller reacts to the external power bank? Should I make any manipulations with its firmware or something?

why is that one gets a N/A instead of % icon in battery information? you also have N/A sometimes..... i did the procedure and after reasembling all i can read N/A and no voolt on individual cells..... what did I fry? :(

Check the pin connector of your battery, look for bent pins and the charger. Clean it with alcohol, you can also clean it with mineral oil, but use a tiny amount.

dead cell means higher resistance which is not good :) , it migt be just drained though .. that's another story , and yes dead (drained) batteries can be revived ..

Hi Yeah nice for fun but unfortunately will not fly with and extra 200g is twice time the batt. the battery on that video is about 250g, Spark can't take off with an additional twice time own batt, is like putting 1 batt with aprox 290g.

At most you’ll only fry the pack. Which is around 50 bucks.This mod, for the cost of a extra lipo pack let’s you fix the atrocious flight time of the spark which I personally feel is totally worth it.
