FFD, another excellent video. Maybe in a future video you might want to go a little deeper into why one needs to haul (or DH) - and when not to? For example, hauling a back-cast increases the chance of a dry fly "popping" the surface as it speeds off, which can spook trout in low or clear water presentations (and I'm sure you know this already 🙃). You could show the technique for still hauling without the "pop". Anyway, ☮ from Idaho and glad to hear the rods are a hit 😎

Thank you Justal - that is a great idea, drilling down a bit further, I appreciate the inspiration. Thank you! The support I have received on the rod company is humbling, pretty cool stuff.

Nice! The FFD5 has been a big hit for us, not surprising due to it's performance. Everything I hoped for and more. Thank you for considering my fly rod as well, I am truly grateful! Cheers!

Thanks. I really need to get these right. I like your videos. I'm a beginner & with your help I successfully went wading in our local river & caught 2 large mouth bass earlier this week. They were only about 6"fish, but I was giddy. As it was my 1st time fly fishing. After a lot of practice casting & anticipation. I was landing the fly were I wanted& getting hits almost immediately. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thanks.

This helped a ton! I’ll invest in better stuff someday because I’ve just started. I’m super excited to get more advanced in not just fly fishing but also tying flies. I live in Florida where we have bass but also some exotics like peacock bass which fight super hard along with saltwater species such as Jack of course and I’m dying to catch one of those on fly. Tight lines!

I'm having trouble with timing on starting the forward cast too soon. I don't have the flexibility to watch my loop totally straighten out. Do I wait to feel the fly tug before I make my 2nd haul and forward cast?
@FlyFishDan6 ай бұрын
That would be just a touch late - as soon as you feel you’re ready to bring it forward, wait a half second longer, then bring the casting stroke forward. After a while, it will become intuitive (muscle memory).

Hello there!

But you need to have a good automatic muscle memory to do this or yoh will end up with trailling loop mess
@FlyFishDan Жыл бұрын
It definitely takes practice and you are right, then muscle memory takes hold. I have to concentrate on 'not' hauling at some level when casting. Thanks for watching! Cheers!
