Kayak Pro Tip: When entering the kayak, many people want to nose into the shore, perpendicular to the shoreline, but when the bottom of the boat touches the bottom of the lake it becomes a pivot point and the boat becomes very tippy. Instead, try positioning your boat parallel to the shoreline in a few inches of water and climb in. The boat may bottom out but it won't be as tippy, then all you have to do is push off sideways with the paddle on the bottom. You may have to rock the boat a little to get it moving away from the shore but that's easy.

I have the Blackfoot 130 and it is awesome and very well built. I just ordered the Blackfoot 160 on black Friday and got 20% off. I wanted the extra room for my fishing and camping equipment along with my dog a chow chow. I do have a cart for the kayak if needed. I do a lot of camping in northern Michigan and the upper peninsula and most of my sites are right next to the water. I am putting a yoga mat down in the kayak for extra added protection from the dogs feet. I really like being able to deflate the blackfoot and through in the back of my Subaru or on top in the cargo basket. Beats a big heavy plastic fishing kayak.

Thanks for the discount code. I have been cruising the market for a little bit trying to nail down what I want. I had pretty much decided to get a SeaEagle 420x, which is a 14 foot 2 or 3 seater rated for 855 pounds. Then I was cruising through basspro just to see what I could get a look at and low and behold they had the BlackFoot angler 130 all set up on the floor. Man is it nice! For me, the molle pannels and the scotty mount pads really set it apart. And it just looks sick with a sick name. The 160 is 3 feet longer, rated for 800 pounds even though it is 2 feet longer than the seaeagle and has more molle and mounts. I'm going with that one because I plan to spend more time tandem or cruising with the family than solo and also plan to use it as a mothership for spearfishing and possible scuba. Heck, you could rig up a PVC pole set up for rigging a tarp to camp in this thing. Anyway, you did a really good overview and the coupon code is really nice. Thanks!

I purchased a Dakota Lithium Powerbox 10, 12v , 10Ah Battery to power my 7" fishfinder. I can plug my electric pump directly into the Powerbox away from the car! It also can charge my phone while paddling. Costly but a great add to my Blackfoot 130.

I have one. The reason for getting one is it has the capacity to hold two, so I can fish with my 8 yr old son. The only concern I have so far is you have to be extremely careful when landing fish inside the boat as the spikes can easily puncture holes on the floor and outside. I already earnt the hard lesson when one big flathead was brought into the boat. I ended up with couple of little ruptures!

Hi Bob - I have not yet taken this down a river, although I've spoke to people familiar about it. It can handle class 2, you just need to be experienced before taking it down any river. It can be very dangerous otherwise. Be safe! Cheers!

Hello George - the AG framed seat is (in some cases) an accessory. This seat does come with a high and low setting (the high setting is the extension piece that adds a nice storage shelf right under your seat). Item # 584221102

Sadly I don't have option for Aquaglide kayak in my country and was forced to buy "non fishing inflatable" kayak from another company and I'm not really happy about it. On paper that kayak was the same (kind of) as Aquaglide but on water there is no chance to get stand on or move true the water easy like Blackfoot 130 in your video :/

I had the same situation before I ended up with my blackfoot 130. I used an AE 1007 for fishing for one summer. Still had fun but of course as it did not have hard floor and the seats were not designed for fishing, uncomfortable after couple of hours.

There are a lot of choices for sure. It's really tough to advise and it will come down to personal preference. I love my inflatable kayak because it's so easy to travel with, light, holds a ton of gear, will work in rivers, lakes and the puget sound. The only challenge would be maneuverability when fly fishing - with a pontoon boat and a float tube you can use fins to keep yourself in one spot...you'll need an anchor for a kayak. Kayak's also keep you high and completely dry - so if you are in a cold weather environment, it's far more comfortable. I find myself using my kayak the most out of all three.

From what I was told by Aquaglide - it can handle some pretty heavy surf and rapids. The floor is two pieces, and it has four scuppers for situations just as you described. I am not skilled enough at this point to dare try that!

Sounds great, until you put a half dozen hooks in it… Should look into a foldable kayak, portability is similar, and you won’t have to carry around an air pump or worry about punctures.

The durable material is resistant to any typical hooks used in fishing (I can say this from experience). The foldable kayaks are far less stable/durable. I would recommend the Blackfoot 130 over anything that folds up for safety and longevity. Cheers!
