Ralph, it's a Yak Attack system. I believe an 8' or 10" GearTrack mounted to the universal mount.

Is it fair to assume that any Scotty or YakAttack attachments to those universal mounts would need to be removed when folding the boat back up ?? Also, you seem to have two different styles of attachments at play. Can you provide links for those?? Thanks.
@AquaglidePlatinum
@AquaglidePlatinum Жыл бұрын
Good question! Not necessarily - it depends on the specific attachment and how tight you are looking to fold. As for the attachments, we use the (4-screw) Universal Mounts as a base because they are compatible with products from so many accessory manufacturers including Scotty, YakAttack, Rhino, RailBlaza and more. The YakAttack Mighty Mount Switch attaches to our 4-bolt plate but adds the quick on-off convenience of a single t-bolt track. It has opened up a lot of options for kayak anglers and is probably the single most popular accessory used on our angling kayaks. We have a list of commonly used accessories in our FAQ section: aquaglidesupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500000285202-How-to-use-the-Universal-Mount-What-kind-of-accessories-can-I-add-with-the-Universal-Mount-

Just picked up this kayak and I'm excited to get out there. What is recommended model for an electric pump?
@AquaglidePlatinum
@AquaglidePlatinum Жыл бұрын
Hey Sam - congrats on your new kayak and welcome to the Aquaglide family! Our go-to kayak pump is the Accelerator: www.aquaglide.com/product/accelerator-hp-12v-22-pump/ - this is a PSI-set pump with an auto shut-off that plugs into a 12v car outlet. If you'd prefer a pump that plugs into a wall, one of our Aquapark pumps with a Halkey-Roberts Valve will suit that need. But note that these don't come with a gauge/auto shut-off, so you would want to closely monitor and have a separate PSI gauge. Hit us with any other questions!

Excellent video for someone looking for his first fishing kayak. I am considering the Blackfoot 130 for my fishing vessel and as a tandem paddler for my wife and myself. We are both small people and I know the 130 can be rigged with two seats. Question: Is the 130 going to be a very comfortable tandem vessel or do I need to go to the 160. As I will fish alone, my preference is to fish in the 130 and hopeful it will serve as a great tandem vessel. Appreciate your thoughts.
@AquaglidePlatinum
@AquaglidePlatinum Жыл бұрын
Hey William! Good question. While the 130 will suffice as a tandem, it will feel on the tighter side. If you will be paddling majority (or even half) of the time tandem, the 160 would be much better suited. But if you will be primarily paddling solo with occasional tandem trips thrown in, the 130 would be a great option. We would recommend thoughtfully considering your primary use case and weighing what you'd like to prioritize - better for tandem paddling or better for solo paddling. We know this isn't an exact answer, but your objectives make it a personal preference! If you'd like to ask other Aquaglide paddlers what they think, there is a community-led Facebook group called "Aquaglide Kayak Owners" that could give lots of first hand opinions.

Any videos on how to mount that fish finder? Hours of research for this Yak and nothing
@bonedyone

I’m on the same quest, I have the yak attack switch blade and garmin striker 4 base attached to a light mount switch, it fits but is too short, it pivots side to side without a longer rail like in this video. Will a longer yak attack rail just screw into the universal mount using only 4 screws?? Maybe that’s what they did here.. want to chime in @aquaglide

Does the hook and loop become more loose with continuous use?
@AquaglidePlatinum
@AquaglidePlatinum Жыл бұрын
We utilize marine grade loop material that is constructed and finished (coated) specifically to provide peel resistance and maximum durability in a marine environment. Also, the primary force applied during use is in the sheer direction parallel to hook/loop material, versus in the peel direction perpendicular to material. Even as peel gets easier, sheer tends to maintain full strength. Hope this helps!

I took a very long time researching and decided to buy this kayak based on marketing promises of this being above average quality product. It is not. It is misrepresented. You definitely need to buy a good quality electric pump. There is no way you can comfortably and easy inflate or deflate it with manual air pumps. Despite marketing claims. At full PSI the tubes are soft and you will need to routinely exceed PSI to achieve harder surface. It is China-made, average quality materials, not the kind you'd expect from a gear priced as top of the line. Nothing about its construction is environmentally conscious, which is not the last considerations for most people who enjoy kayaking. It is extremely difficult to dry. Marketing has no mention of the hassle associated with drying after use and preparation for storage. It is really difficult to clean as mud gets into the pores of the floor. It tracks just ok on the water, certainly nothing close to hardshell kayaks. I'd never buy it again and I'm stuck with it because the resale value is dirt. Please be ethical representing your product and give customers accurate marketing information.

We’re so sorry to hear you are disappointed in your Blackfoot. We are also surprised to read these sentiments as they are distinctly opposite from every other piece of feedback we’ve received on the Blackfoot. Our mission is always to offer a product that exceeds expectations for quality and performance for given price range, and we strongly believe the Blackfoot is no exception. To address your specific points… The need for an electric pump is a personal decision, as a quality hand pump (ex. AG Kayak Hand Pump 10) is more than capable of inflating our kayaks to operating pressure, which renders a suitably rigid paddling platform. We leave the decision between electric or hand up to each customer to choose for themselves, but we do offer the most compact and capable pumps of either variety. We strive for the highest quality product while maintaining optimal functionality. Increasing material thickness would add significantly to the weight and the packing size, which detracts from the inherent value proposition of inflatable kayaks - and be an unnecessary increase, as the durability at the current thickness has proven more than sufficient in thousands of models. All competing products are either manufactured entirely in Asia or are composed of materials that are manufactured in Asia, and our manufacturing partner in China has a proven record of top level production quality. Aquaglide endeavors to be as sustainable as possible, and the composition and construction of our products is constantly evolving to adopt new technologies that minimize our impact on the environment. While we acknowledge the environmental shortcomings of inflatable PVC, a rotomolded plastic 'hardshell' boat at twice the weight is no better in this regard. We are currently pursuing packaging solutions that will minimize or eliminate plastics, and we offset all paddlesport purchases on aquaglide.com. Drying can be difficult for those limited on space, as is true for most things that go into the water. We recommend removing the dropstitch floor as part of drying process, making it easier and more effective to dry quickly. Many of our customers have dedicated kayak drying blankets or towels that they use before deflating - this also significantly cuts down on dry time. Tracking characteristics, even between hard shell kayaks, are unique from model to model, design to design. The BFA models were designed to strike an ideal balance between stability, tracking, and maneuverability specific to anglers. While there are certainly kayak models that offer a higher degree of tracking than the BFA, we are confident that BFA strikes the appropriate balance for intended end user, IE fishermen/women spending as much time casting or trolling as they do paddling. We hope this helps address your concerns. Please reach out to our customer service team if you’d like to discuss further.

@@AquaglidePlatinum Agreed, absolutely amazing response! Also, correct me if I'm wrong, the tubes and floor CAN be inflated to a higher PSI, however, the recommended PSI is lower in order to protect the hull from over expansion when it warms up or the kayak is in direct sunlight? Personally, I'd much rather have a company like AG advertise their kayaks at a lower and safer PSI than buy a yak from a different company that advertises max PSI and have problems. Now, with that being said, it would be amazing if AG created or used(if one exists) a inflation valve that has built in pressure release in order to ensure the kayak can't overinflate:) Do to purchasing my BF 130 at the very end of the open water season last year, I can't say I have a lot of experience with it on the water, however, from the few times I did get out I was VERY impressed with all aspects of the kayak, and it exceeded my expectations, and this is coming from a guy who between him and his kids has 9 kayaks, so we kinda have an idea of what we're talking about.

Where do you live and how much do you want for you Blackfoot, I'd gladly take it off your hands for the right used price.
@AquaglidePlatinum
@AquaglidePlatinum Жыл бұрын
@@DenKwonDo you are correct! The true maximum PSI is higher than listed, but our recommended PSI is what provides most efficient rigidity while protecting the kayak from expansion and over inflation. We are currently exploring PRV (pressure relief valves) in our aquapark products, and if it is requested enough, it may be a feature that gets carried over into paddlesports as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - we are so glad to hear you're happy with your Blackfoot! Here's to many great days on the water in the future.
