Hey man I really like and appreciate your videos. I fly fished when I was a teenager with my father who was a guide. As I was a know it all teenager I didn’t really pick up what he was putting down and now he is gone and I’m older and getting back into it and these videos help. It’s also great you are in the same areas I love in for a lot of the videos. Thanks man

Thank you Alan - I do appreciate your kind words, thank you! My father has also taught me a ton and I still grow in fly fishing, even today and after 40 years of casting a fly rod. Glad my videos have helped too. Cheers!

I Can tell you Why the best stripping basket tech is from Denmark, we have been flyfishing for seatrout in saltwater on the coast since the 1970`s. The go to setup these days is a fast action 9’ #6. Either with a shootinghead or Lines like the outbound short, Scientific Anglers even made a Line for just 5hat kind Of Fishing, the Volantis, made as a head and a WF.

Here in RI we need a stripping basket for all our saltwater fishing especially if you are using an intermediate or full sink line.

Glad I found your channel! I work in the Distribution Center for Far Bank Enterprises which the Sage Brand sits underneath along with Rio Products and Redington. I'm happy to be able to share with anybody also interested in the Sage Foundation, I've received just the other day, hundreds more of the foundation rod. I hope they should be making their way out within the coming weeks. I saw a lot of 5 and 6 weight rods.

My son loved this depth finder. He's used it for ice fishing and on his 14ft boat. Works well and is fairly easy to use. Saw fish on the depth finder, caught fish in that spot. Can't ask for more, except maybe an automatic fish cleaning option :)

Great video. I have been thinking of giving this type of fishing a try. How about doing a video of targeting sea run cutts in the rivers next? I would love to hear your take of what gear and time of year is best to get them this way.

Looks like you were at the purdy bridge. Never caught anything there on flies but spinners like Martin panthers do amazing. A even better spot is this certain place from driftwood dove down to olalla on Colvos passage. It’s insane how many salmon and cuttys there are

In october I am going to buy myself (birthday present) a 9wt 9ft salt water combo for beach fly fishing. I was thinking 8 wt for months but recently found out that 9 will handle the wind better for my area (long open coastlines). Looks like I might need that stripping basket too. Thanks for the video

Why single-hand? Why not an equivalent weight switch rod?
@FlyFishDan2 жыл бұрын
I think it's more about preference. The SRC's are usually pretty close to the shoreline, so a lighter single hand setup works well (at least it has for me). Thanks for watching - cheers!

Can the cold water Rio Outbound Short line be used in tropical water? The tropical water outbound short is very expensive for me.
@FlyFishDan Жыл бұрын
I don't see a problem with using a cold water designed fly lines for tropical setting, it's generally the other way around (tropical used in cold water applications) that becomes a problem.
@GabrielAlicea-e4r Жыл бұрын
@@FlyFishDan And what would be the problem? I'm starting out in fly fishing and I still have several questions.
@FlyFishDan Жыл бұрын
Warm water fly lines will stiffen in the cold and nearly become unusable.

@@FlyFishDanYes, because in English when you don’t know the gender you use the masculine form hence it would always be fisherman as a general use like it’s always been. Stop using modern genderless terminology cause it’s linguistically and biologically wrong.
