Hey, I’m a 16 year old fly tier from Montana and have been tying flies since I was 8. I have just recently started taking it seriously and I am thankful for you videos. They have helped me so much over the last couple months. Thank you so much.

Great information as always. Thanks Brian! I was an electrician for 35 years, started tying a few years ago, when local fly shop showed me bead-chain eyes, I had to laugh, I knew All those light fixture “pull chains” I saved would come into use..just had no idea at the time it would be for flies! 😂 Have a good one and thanks again! 👍👍🎣

Brian, off topic but I think you have one of the best backgrounds of any of us KZbin fly tiers. The dinosaur and lightning bolt? I need to up my game! Oh yeah, great video by the way. I loved the tip on how the placement of the eyes, and how forward or aft can really affect the jigging action. (PS: I'm not commenting to win any flies-- the last thing I need is more flies around here. :-) )

Wish I’d seen this video when I was new to tying. But videos didn’t exist then 😂 I really liked the discussion on the fact that heavy thread and pressure are really critical to keeping eyes in place. Took me a long time to figure that out.

Keep Em' Coming! I prefer a drop of glue before I tie the eyes in, so many people do it after. Glue it, and then bind it, don't just coat the thread wraps.

Hey great video. The best tip I ever had for ever had was Bob Clouser ties in a small thread bump places the eyes behind it and wraps the usual way. Figure eight then under the in top of the hook. Tightens it up so nice. Once again thanks for all your info and videos.

If you put a little dubbing on the hook where you are going to tie the eyes in it helps keep them in place a little better. Nice video as always

I find those thread wraps under the eyes, on top of the hook shank are really important from preventing the eyes from rolling around the shank. Great tip! Also liked the tip about the tread pressure, getting those wraps tight is critical for fly durability.

Great tips on tying in the eyes. One more reason to stay away from gel spun on lead eyes is that when pulled tight the gel spun can and will slice through the lead eyes. This won't happen with other eye materials bit I've had it happen a ton with lead eyes.
