A few years ago, this video inspired myself and a group of friends to get better at flying as a team in DCS. Coming back to watch it now and I marvel at how good it really is. Every word is gold.

Under-rated content right here. Everyone should watch this for real. The information is amazing quick to the point.

Thank you for this video! Many show how to fly, but barely anyone shows how to properly take off and join up Also I was quite surprised about the barely any comms Always thought they would communicate speed increases and such

Why is two put to the inside of a planned turn on takeoff. Less gap? I’d think that could cause a hazard.
@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom11 ай бұрын
It's not always on the inside. Two can be on either side. The placement will be up to 1/Lead's judgment, and wind direction will be a key factor. Either way, a wingman should be able to stay on the inside of a shallow turn. Hope that answers your question.

@@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom thanks. I was referring the comment at the 1:29 mark. The only part that confused me.

@@maxxawesome7412 There are some advantages to being on the inside. You have a smaller turn circle so you can catch up more easily if you are behind. Also, if you come in too fast you can slide under lead to the outside for that larger turn circle to help with easing off the speed. Starting from the outside you lose the opportunity to take advantage of either of these.

why do you do all by gestures, not via radio? wouldnt radio make it a lot easier to communicate?
@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyomАй бұрын
Great question. In aviation (especially in military aviation) your radio is not always guaranteed to be available. It could stop working because of a malfunction, jamming, or because the mission requires radio silence. So USAF pilots learn to do as much as possible using visual signals.

Air Force: Left wing (standard) or side that is the first turn out of traffic to provide pursuit curves… or as briefed lol
