Came here expecting to learn about IFF but it also turned out to be a great video explaining civilian transponders. I've been binging your videos lately they're great!

This is so interesting. More or less related but since radios operate on radio frequencies (who would've thought?) I had a stereo system that couldn't get a signal so I rigged up a copper wire from the somewhat broken antenna and ran about 6 feet of that wire to the nearest window where I was then able to pick up a signal. Just not sure how that signal translates to visual data. Maybe I missed that part in the video.

Sir, I have a question can THAAD radar track incoming hazel missile‘ kinetic loads as they will be covered in highly compressed air or plasma. ?

Great info that's well presented. Question - are throttles left in the stated settings throughout the manuver or do they vary in order to maintain desired airspeed?

Hi! First of all, thank you for all these videos; all the series are amazing! I have some questions about the box pattern: How do you calculate your pattern altitude with regard to different dive angles? Do you use the 30° dive angle calculation to build the initial pass and then adjust the base leg altitude to match the corresponding canopy code when changing the dive angle? Also, how do you determine when to turn onto the base leg without visual cues? Do you set a waypoint? Thanks a lot!
@Hypex14119 күн бұрын
why do you do all by gestures, not via radio? wouldnt radio make it a lot easier to communicate?
@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom15 күн бұрын
Great question. In aviation (especially in military aviation) your radio is not always guaranteed to be available. It could stop working because of a malfunction, jamming, or because the mission requires radio silence. So USAF pilots learn to do as much as possible using visual signals.

🌟 Another great one Mike @TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom - I'm a civ pilot who thinks I have SA on comms but watching the terminology and various codes for sensor info and target status boggles my brain. 😉 Hats off to all who serve who master these topics/techniques. Curious if you have any interest in a video about what constitutes safe intercept conduct internationally. Did a video about the last dust-up and got some "internet" opinions about what is accepted and expected in the comments. Or maybe sit for an interview with me?

I'm revisiting these older videos because I've been doing some Mirage F1 stuff, which relies purely on bomb tables. A difficulty I'm having is both aim off points and when to dive. The F1 doesn't like negative Gs, so I feel the need to roll myself over, pull up to the angle I need for the bomb table, and roll myself upright again. I feel like I'm constantly underestimating when to roll, finding myself in a game of chicken with the ground before the reticle is on, or overestimating and finding myself doing those negative Gs to get the nose back down before my altitude criteria is hit. Is there a way to figure out the optimal time to roll on a target using some of the trig?
@YuriHabadakas25 күн бұрын
So, do "targeted" and "sorted" express intent, or sensor lock, or both? For example: if my flight lead has assigned me to a contact, I can see that contact on datalink but I'm not able to get an FCR lock, would I still call "2 sorted"? What would be the correct call if I understand the directive and will take responsibility for the contact, but don't actually have them on sensors yet?

Great video. I can see now that a good intercept requires more than good pilot training. We need to include a trained controller as well. Every time I watch one of your videos I feel like I know less than when I started. The volume of "stuff I need to learn" just keeps expanding.

Wealth. America has much land, resources, and no enemies anywhere near. Canada is a chill ally, and Mexico is, well... even if it was an enemy, not much they'd be able to do given they have less of absolutely everything that the US has

One of the biggest advantages of physical books is the table of contents. Is there such a thing for your invaluable material? Call me slow but I think once we're past "just BFM tutorials", things can get a little chaotic. Speaking of organized flow - what about publicly available training programs? Even if someone is aware of downloadable UPT material, how does it tie to other such USAF/NAVY programs? This may turn into a wide topic but what I *think* I need is a kind of an "Ops Center" companion book/library :) Any tips? Or a comment on the order your own videos should be followed?
@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyomАй бұрын
Great questions. I wish I had a companion book. One day I may write one but right now I have several others that need to be written first to complete the open book series I have. I would like to make a video that explains a good order to watch this channel's content. But first I need to fill in some gaps. That should include a "start here" series. So keep an eye out for that.

@@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom Will do! I encourage you to simply start a DCS forum topic on the subject when you do release a "watching plan" or anything. Or hell, even now. Your stuff is top level. Only an idiot would pass this material!

08:41 When AWACS calls out a group and classifies them as "Additional", "Pop Up" or "Threat". Is this just for the initial call out or will they continue to use this terminology on subsequent call outs? And if they continue to call out these groups, does the brevity code change if they cross into another range zone such as crossing from outside targeting range (Additional) to within targeting range (Pop Up) ? Very interesting video and it explains a lot of the recorded radio chatter I hear. I can only dream of the day when I find a group that is both skilled and coordinated enough and with enough people to fill all these roles. When that day comes you have helped me be a little bit closer to ready :)
@TheOpsCenterByMikeSolyom2 ай бұрын
The MTTP uses the terms "undetected", "newly detected", and "unreported" for those three brevity words. So once they are detected and reported you would no longer use those terms. That's when the other labels come into use.
@marlan__2 ай бұрын
They keep their label. Labels don't change post-commit unless a new picture is given (there are some other exceptions as well, e.g. arms/joins/fighter redef)
