Differential braking is definitely authentic to the real aircraft. It’s just different. Next time you taxi check your pneumatic gauge, if you put left rudder in and pull the brake lever it’ll only apply the left brake, same the other way, if you push the right rudder pedal and pull the brake it’ll only apply the right brake

Great aircraft but I wish they'd do something about the external wind noise. I have to turn the Environment volume level down really low in sim options to even be able to hear the engine in the external view.

they are fantastic! So is the sounds created at low level passes. Atmosphere and weather also affect the sounds.

Flew this last night, you're right it's good. Much better than the previous version. Can't wait till I get all my bindings figured out. There are a ton of LVARs in all likelihood to get figured out in Spad, ugh, it's going to take weeks.

I think the spitfire has differential braking... just not 2 separate brake pedals .. brake power is distributed via your rudder input and activated via the brake lever on your stick... watch your triple pressure gauge while pushing rudder left or right while braking... it should only do one side. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fGSVnWaJfcSWf8U Same in the DCS Mosquito btw.. No, you have it the wrong way around. How much power you apply to the brakes comes from the lever on the stick. The pedals only tell the hydraulic fluid which way to go. You press the pedal for which way you want to turn, and control how much pressure you apply by using the lever. That's why Douglas Bader was able to fly with prosthetic legs. He would have been unable to feel how hard he was pressing with his legs, but had no trouble, of course, using his hands. He could simply lean towards the correct pedal and however much pressure was being applied, worked.

wow! I think this is the first time I beat you to a new plane! LOL Great video as always. The sounds at low altitudes are impressive and so are the sounds of the airframe at high forces. I have a couple new vids on my channel with some of these sounds. Between that and the handling it is a much different plane. The clipped-wing version is now actually harder to fly which is more accurate. They really set a high mark with this one! My flights are all VR with a Quest2 so you can see how it looks.

I can't start it manually, only with CNTL+ E. This is since the last two updates, the original started manually just fine. I'm using a PC and go through all the operations including priming and wobble pump. The difference I see (and hear) between CNTL+E and manually starting is the starting RPM and sound. Manually it seems starting RPM is low, using CNTL+E its much faster and creates a "Phew Phew" sound while cranking. When I try manually I only get low RPM and no "Phew'". This results in endless cranking and no start.

Watching on my iPad I tried the ready to fly button 3 times… I need some sleep but how is this compared to the DCS version asking as someone who has neither but I have trialed the spitfire when that first started. Thanks ED that’s a great edition to any simulator and should be on all others

There is a known bug with the cylinder wear condition that is appareantly scheduled to be fixed next version. My question is relating to RPM - what is optimum cruise RPM? .... I mean up until now I've always set my RPM to 3650 and left it but I'm not sure this is right, setting pitch lever to full when up to speed and in level flight seems to produce less oil and rad heat, less fuel consumption, less engine RPM (and in turn less wear) at no cost. So long as RPM is maintained above 1700, the alternator is outputting voltage to charge the battery.

@JodyParsons no I've not had the engine die from this (new version is now out that fixes cylinder wear) If your engine is dying it could be due to a number of things, I've never actually had it myself but I've gotten to the stage where black smoke is coming from the engine ..... this is normally caused by allowing the rpms to stay above 3650 for too long. You can turn off simulated engine stress in the tablet.

Overkill, you need to now go back and re-review the DC/JustFlight F-16, F-14, and F-15. The latest updates are great with the exception of the F-16 when wheels touch the ground. You be the judge.

For completeness sake: The Flying Iron Spitfire is modelled on a Spitfire Mk IXc - the "c" denotes the wing type - the Spitfire had 5 (I think) wing types over the course of its many variations, and the c wing was the most common. This wing allowed for a variety of armament configurations, which included at least one configuration that doesn't include cannon at all. So if they've modelled this properly then you should be able to select this, which @OverKillSimulations implies you can do.
