My parents got divorced when I was around 21. They were respectful to each other and both were sad that the marriage fell apart. Dad was quite generous to mom to the point even the lawyer was going "you sure you want to give her that much? You can get away with paying her less." My dad refused. This was the mother of his children and the woman he had married. He also knew that it would be a lot easier for him to get that money back than for my mom to get even a fraction of it since she's on disability. Neither could comprehend how you could love someone so much and have such a nasty divorce. When my Oppa (mom's dad) died a few years after the divorce, my dad comforted her and let her cry on him.

I’m not understanding why JM chose to divide the points that the defendant used in half, as opposed to dividing the sum total of the accumulated points at the time of her usage. For example, if there were 350,000 points available prior to her using points, why then would that 350,000 not be divided in half, which would allot both litigants 175,000 points each, which would mean that she actually didn’t owe the plaintiff for using points that are legally half hers? That doesn’t make any sense to me. If I have a joint account with my husband, and there is $10,000 dollars in there, I should be entitled to use up to $5,000 as I see fit. But what JM did was the equivalent of saying *”You used $5,000 of the total $10,000, so now you have to give him back $2,500”* which would then devalue my entitlement to 25%, as opposed to 50%. 🤷🏽♀️

Points don't have a permanent cash equivalent so she's saying every time one uses it, they need to pay the other half the value of points used
@crimeshowaddict20132 жыл бұрын
Yes! She should have left it as the defendant used her half of the points and the rest is for the plaintiff to use. Now, the defendant is still entitled to use some of those other points. Imagine your husband of 30+ years just up and leaves during a time where you are having health problems, then being ordered to pay him an obscene amount of money because you were the main bread winner for all those years and have to stay legally married so you can have health coverage because you can’t afford to pay both. While she’s dealing with all of that, he’s over here being petty over some frequent flier miles and less than $100 worth of amazon orders. Some folks in his community may see him in a different light after they see this!

I went through absolute hell from my ex husband. He tried so hard to cause me to have a full on panic attack or end up in a psych ward. It was devastating. I left as a single mother and had to try to put my son first while he tried to sink me. His parents had money so they paid his legal bills until it was finished. He paid 85k to his over priced attny and mine was 30k. Before we split I could see I was in danger with finances to cover a lawyer so I opened up a 50k line of credit and increased 3 credit card limits to 25k each. That way I could pay with one and move it to another every couple months without paying huge interest. I had to send my lawyer like 5k a month and it was killing me. In the end our home sold. I paid off my debt and I put a good chunk down on my new home. He was so greedy and delusional it was disgusting what he was trying to do to me. I put in way more than 50% into the home not to mention the actual deposit and the upgrades I paid for but he wanted to destroy me. He even tried to get alimony from me. It was unreal. The judge ended up catching him in multiple lies so it did not go over well. I got my 50% as I had always maintained and moved on. Now after 10 years later my brother tells me he still can't believe I chose my son over my husband. What!! Of course I did. I was not going to sit back and allow abuse to happen so I chose my son's safety over his abuse.

At the time of the separation the points should be half and half. If it was that important it would have been discussed. Bitterness at it best. But I love her accent. She sounds like a hot headed Italian from Long Island love it...

They are staying married because she needs his retired fireman's health insurance? I guess ...

Health insurance is expensive, and sometimes impossible to get when you have preexisting health conditions. Apparently, she owes him a large sum of money that will be paid over the next 3 years, and after that time, he can convert his health insurance. She says that she pays the premium, so he’s not really out anything…other than being legally single. 😂

She's a lawyer and yet she wants to keep screaming over the judge? I'm pretty sure lawyers are supposed to have a better handle on courtroom etiquette than your average person, and yet he was not a lawyer is actually maintaining himself much better. Lol

Wish the plaintiff could’ve gotten punished for straight LYING. “Why would I report the mother of my kids, especially when she owes me $700k….” and changed his tune once JM pointed out the email he sent. Also how does a retired firefighter afford to be a member of a country club?

She was extra hard on her when she said she was not only lawyer , but a divorce lawyer lol 😂 it’s the “do as I say not as I do rule “ . We know that people who work a particular job never adhere to their own rules . Like a hairstylist hair is never done . And manicurist nails are never done ✅ and a divorce attorney who can’t do her own divorce lol 😂
