Flying the Cessna Caravan in RAIN SHOWERS

Flying the Cessna 208 Caravan single pilot IFR to Chicago Rockford International Airport and then back to the Spirit of Saint Louis airport. During the flight I work around some rain showers and after landing turn around and fly back to St Louis. The video includes the ATC radio communications and the pilot cockpit view of the takeoff and landings.

I flew the caravan for Fedex for five years, blessed to have 4000 hours in the 208 in the worst weather at night. Tough bird I must say, I flew during Katrina from BWG to MEM that night. My ground speed was 256 kts over the ground with a tailwind, exciting weather that night. At MEM I landed on 36R 200/1/2 winds 030 42 kt. gusting 50 kts. Also a exciting landing. The Lord was with me during that night and others. You have a beautiful C208 Capt moonbeam. Mr.Larry

Since the Grand Caravan is one of the few planes in MSoft Flight Sim 2020 that works right, thus far, (and the sim itself is a total mess, sadly), I'm going to fly this route in it in your honor, sir. I managed to take the Caravan last night from Albequerque to Sedona, AZ, and had a near-perfect RNAV landing there as well. So maybe there's hope for the sim. yet. I also tested out those reversers, and they worked like a charm. I also had some icing early on and the good thing is it teaches you fast how to engage the anti-ice systems on the plane. Those also worked like a charm. Always a good thing. I've loved the Caravan since flying them in FSX and XPlane11, because, once you learn all the systems it's such an easy plane to fly, it's quite forgiving for the most part, and it handles so smoothly, and it doesn't keep freakin' beeping at me when I'm doing a shallow climbout, for no reason, like some of the other duds in 2020.

PPL and High Performance Endorsement, of course Instrument Rating would be nice as well . . . Basically just a Cessna 182 on steroids, not sure about the Caravan, but a demo'd a Kodiak and it was easier to fly than a 182
